scrapped theme -
Before "Fear Of Pixelation" was born, I had created this scrapped draft. I was trying to make something that sounded broken, damaged, and weird. Looking back, it did sound way too odd.... It's fun experimenting though...

In "Caught In A Loop" there's this white noise on the main instrument. Very noticeable. At one point during the composition, I got tired of it and took it down, to have a clearer sound. It all lost its color and became somewhat boring. Had to bring it back :)

I've changed this single phrase too many times... there's one note out of tune, and it bothered me at first, but it does set the mood for something, that's getting "off the rails".

Originally named "Necessary Evil".
Credits themes are interesting creatures. It's like a cocktail of feelings. A blend of emotional colors. An attempt to stop you from clicking on the X. Sit back and reminisce

Ice, crystals, and frost...
I've spent quite a while thinking how it should sound. This theme features glass percussions, distant high piano notes, and "hollow" sounding pads. Happy you guys had the chance to listen to it, even though it wasn't in the
Working on FNAF soundtracks is a rollercoaster of genres. In one of these, I found myself creating a few synthwave tracks. Gotta love these nostalgic sounds :)

While composing "
#CrumblingDreams
" the real struggle was to "close the loop", while traveling through the musical scales. Like aligning the last and the first frame in a visual loop.
Draft version had a church organ too :)

01:33 is the cornerstone that helped finish the puzzle for this composition. Everything builds up to that short phrase.
In addition, the castle scenery is the perfect excuse to use one of my favorite instruments - the harpsichord.

Fazforce Theme - First you need to make it shine, then you destroy it, to take it back in time...
The initial instrumentation needs to be considered when filtering aggressively, as some parts might be lost due to the lo-fi effect.

"8Bit Travel Theme" was a small little journey.
01:55 marks the knot that holds it all together, I think...
It's a modest theme with a very simple soundset. No special effects were applied to the sounds, and no pyrotechnics to hide behind. Just a melody

"Freedom At All Cost" is the most optimistic tune I composed recently, compared to the others, from the game. It has this small gap of silence at the end, but in looping mode, it works well. While working on short loops, I always wonder how many times it
"Steam Powered Punk" - is made of steampunk-inspired sounds (naturally). The entire rhythm section is made of chains, metal impacts, steam bursts, cogs, bolts and ratchet sounds.

Some compositions are made in a single "cursed" / "lucky" session. The entire rhythm section of this piece was made from various mechanical sounds: steam bursts, door slams, clicks, metal chains, etc. Too much fun...

"...take the weather with you..."
Slow cello notes, somehow, instantly refer to cold weather to me. At 00:26 there is a timpani bend resembling wind and constant vibraphone notes in the bg sound like icy musical tones.

"Back From Cryptobiosis"
I had this bassline stuck in my mind for a few weeks before working on this theme. Didn't know what to do with it until I found this awesome synth bass preset and stumbled upon an article about some 46,000-year-old roundworms from
In Bluster Cluster, you can hear these fast synth arpeggios in the bg. I often create these parts by "drawing" them note by note, reminiscent of the times I worked with ImpulseTracker, composing without a keyboard

In "A Hunter Never Dreams" after 00:12 the progression is constructed from groups of 3 bars each time and not 4, as in the first part. This uneven structure is really helpful for looped music, as there's no actual closure to each cycle, and imh, it
"In Fear Of Pixelation", the sound is "pixelated" by a bit crusher and the tempo of the entire music loop fluctuates - slowing down and speeding up, creating a limp in the beat.

"The End" EP is actually a collection of scratched drafts of credit themes, collected over the years. Cassette tape piano has its own magic... Make sure to crank the volume up on "Beware of the Ending" :)
@cawthonmedias
I think it's "Fear of Pixelation" - from the early works. It's totally experimental. It has tempo changes and the ends of the loop are bit-crushed to "close the circle". Maybe it's not the most catchy tune, but it was sure fun working on it.
@CathuresArt
Glad to hear that... if the loop seems longer than its actual duration, it's a winner. If it turns out to be catchy as well - even better :)
A stock track I totally forgot about. It had some generic name on Pond5, and now thanks to
@deekaymotion
I name it properly - "Building Cities". It's now available on
p.s. Who recognizes the soundset from this tune?

I often start a composition from the bassline. "Passive Aggressive" is a rather simple track but it has waves of buildups and almost no drops, which creates constant tension. What do you think of when you listen to this one?

I think it's "Fear of Pixelation". It's probably a "niche" one, but it's the only one I slowed down and sped up the tempo constantly and battered it with various bit crushers, experimenting... Tempos are rarely altered so drastically in short music loops.
A brilliant soundtrack for
@PlanetofLana
by Takeshi Furukawa. It has everything. It's complex, delicate, suspenseful and the compositions are very clever and masterfully orchestrated. Pure musical storytelling.
