1 person's mild COVID case led to: ☑️16 rescheduled clinic patients ☑️13 weekdays of no childcare ☑️2 COVID+ toddlers in our family ☑️1 exhausted COVID+ momma back to an overbooked virtual clinic tomorrow... Each COVID+ case, no matter how mild the sx, has huge ripple effects.

My dad with a lung condition literally just got off a plane to visit us. My family with 2 kids under 5 were planning on joining me for summer conferences. Now no kids vaccines AND no masks?! This is a ROUGH day for parents of < 5. And this is making it less safe for ALL of us. 😥

Today AM an unvaxed COVID+ patient coughed in my face, pinched me, and told me she loved me. Yes. 2yo has tested + after school exposure. I am sad angry& exhausted after 2 yrs of the stress of keeping them safe. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery &🙏🏾 to our dear supportive friends

When in attg-only COVID ICU you gotta practice what you preach to trainees. I insist that all pts' families, esp in COVID era, get daily updates. One said, to all of us working today: "May you have the strength to help all these sick people & the wisdom to know what they need."🙏🏾

Wow. Just got bill for my recent hospitalization for pregnancy complications (we are ok!) 3 days, 2 nights. Final bill? $28,245. With insurance, 0. Feel incredibly lucky to have insurance in this country. Our patients are just 1 admission away frm financial ruin. #acaanniversary

@oni_blackstock @lyft @Uber This happened to me recently. I wore a mask, driver wasn't wearing one, had a pleasant interaction & then find out I got a 1 ⭐ review. I emailed @lyft abt concerns abt getting a 1 ⭐ just bc I wore an N95 & they replied with boilerplate "Masks are optional now" language. 😠

I wrote to process the 💔😭😡 I felt when my babies & I got COVID. Please vax/boost/mask. "We’re all tired and eager to return back to “normal.” But we are not anywhere near normal yet. We are still experiencing a 9/11-tragedy-level death toll every day."

My preschooler coughed in my face and gave me COVID. Why the doctor in me died a little that day

Impending approval for vaccines for children under 5 has given me some measure of hope.

Something weird and amazing happened today. I talked to 2 family members of patients who were not dying in the ICU FACE-TO-FACE! I miss that so much!!! Def nervous abt 2nd wave, but SO happy for pts that they get 1 visitor now in the hospital - huge for their health & recovery.

Writer's block tips I used to climb out of the hole today: ✅ Get on the 📞. A quick walk&talk phone mtg w/ a collaborator about where you're stuck can be really helpful ✅ Print it out. Paper > Screen sometimes! ✅ Fidget/Procrastinate/Errands ✅ Embrace the #shittyfirstdraft 💪🏾
