I love the word playwright. The moment I found out why it wasn't playwrite: "It's a person who has wrought words into dramatic form, just as a wheelwright has wrought wheels out of wood & iron. It's a word for someone who builds things." Was when I realised it was the form for me

I was in a rehearsal room last week which resulted in a script-in-hand performance. In the post-show an actor said a thing they valued was that I was open to change, wasn't precious & I listened to ideas. It really moved me - I want to be this, I think theatre is collaborative.

NYE is an absolute triumph. I took my mam who is from Tredegar & we both shed tears. So beautiful to see this play on the Olivier stage @nationaltheatre . The cast are magnificent and I loved seeing @michaelsheen play Aneurin Bevan.

A couple were waiting tonight to tearfully tell us that someone close to them is hoarding, they said watching the play helped them to understand her better. Sometimes I worry it isn't academic or high brow enough, then I have these conversations & I know it doesn't matter.

I'm really enjoying living in a travelodge - having a bath, coffee & tea in bed, being central enough to walk everywhere, using the shower curtain to dress up like a zombie & pretend I'm Alan Partridge. Waking up childlike excited each day to be having a play @sohotheatre too.

It can be easy to lose sight of why we make work, especially in a frenetic bubble like the Fringe where everything is naturally judged. But someone reminded me today why I made my play, for survivors of domestic abuse, including myself, and that gives me a lot of strength.

Despite lovely press & comments (though I know it's divisive) tickets for Lynn Faces are low. I had to hire the space up front, which means I get box office, but the risk is higher (for transparency if we sell 50% I'm 4k down). So if you can spread the word I'd be so grateful.

In floods of tears. This is the theatre I grew up with, where I saw my first ever show. Where I started work as an usher & worked my way to Press Assistant. When I moved back in my thirties they opened their arms to me as a writer. I wouldn't be in the theatre without @TRPlymouth

A friend's boyfriend recently said Plymouth was a strange place for me to move to. I was told that leaving London & moving here would ruin my career. It's three years on & those predictions were really quite wrong. (Though I will say dating is hard here)!

7 yrs ago I had my first short play read. I'm not sure what it was about or where I saved it but it was the start of my playwriting journey. I'd saved up to do the only course I could afford at Morley College & it was the culmination of that. Small steps, no one just emerges.

1/2 I'm really pleased about this announcement but I won't be resting on my laurels in campaigning. On @BBCr4today Dowden said the package was to save 'the crown jewels' & 'cultural institutions' - while that is is very important, it's also imperative to look at the wider ecology

I have an actual in real life play in London opening soon (my 1st). At the moment we've only sold 8 tickets & I'm terrified it'll just be me in the theatre with a bottle of wine. I totally get if people are feeling nervous, but if you're not please come!

My name is in The Stage as a writer, I know it's daft but it gave me a little boost. I've written for so long but only started sharing work a few years ago through sheer fear. There are so many rejections, and many more to come, but I'll never stop writing. Keep on keeping on.

I've landed @edfringe ! Only a few hours in & I've already had a 9.5% ale with a journalist; got rained on; had dinner at The Mosque Kitchen; picked up @TheScotsman and am off to my first show. It's so good to be back & so lovely to be here with @StoriesTheatre .

I was so touched to be brought flowers after the show from someone who had come to see Lynn Faces 3 times. This has been such an interesting Fringe. I seemed to have made a decisive show, reviews swung from 'beautiful' to 'worthless,' 'very odd' to 'hilarious.'

4yrs into a 2yr waitlist for an NHS dentist to be told the waitlist doesn't exist now. I've called 19 with no space. I emailed the line for concerns only to be told they won't be responding due to the volume of enquiries. I can't afford private, do I just wait for teeth rot?!

Someone came up to me after Breathless @TRPlymouth this week to tell me about their journey with hoarding. They said they don't really go to the theatre but they came to this to feel less alone. These are the conversations you do it for. They made me feel less alone too.

I've been living off adrenalin (and very strong coffee) for the last week. Today I gave into the sobs & darkness, then I received the most beautiful handwritten letter from an old woman urging me to keep campaigning. It gave me hope & warmth (& there is life outside social media)
