In , we design a model predictive controller that computes safe paths with a desired probability. The MPC utilizes trajectory predictions of dynamic agents and constructs conformal prediction regions quantifying prediction uncertainty to find safe paths.

In our paper, we propose a parameterized prediction error over multiple time steps. By optimizing the parameters over an additional calibration dataset by using linear complementarity programming, we find prediction regions for time series that are valid and not conservative.

Previously, to obtain valid prediction regions over T time steps with confidence 1−δ, individual prediction regions have to be valid with confidence 1−δ/T. We propose a method for reducing this conservatism to enable long horizon planning and verification downstream.

We then formulate a bilevel optimization problem for signal temporal logic (STL) control synthesis. The inner problem encodes the worst case satisfaction of STL predicates over the prediction regions. For efficient synthesis, we rewrite the inner problem using its KKT conditions.

Our approach uses conformal prediction with a new normalization idea to obtain multi-agent prediction regions that are statistically valid over multiple time steps. The normalization idea reduces conservatism and increase data efficiency to enable efficient downstream control.
