Let us as Dubliners tonight stand 100% behind the Gardai, Ambulance and Fire Brigade and everyone involved in emergency services. Dublin is better than far right thuggery. Ireland is better. Let us unite and beat them.
came out of
@DubCityCouncil
meeting tonight and some ......... had stolen my ebike. I really hate thieves. I had worked hard to pay for it..and if caught some Judge will probably scold them at best. sick of it.
Extraordinary today to see the two Parties who gave us the 8th Amendment in first place now claiming credit for getting rid of it. Some of us remember the bile heaped on us who opposed it in 1982/83 and the unnecessary hurt of so many women in the decades in between
god be with the days when
@rte
had a serious current affairs programme on Monday nights. Questions and Answers and John Bowman titans in comparison to current nonsense.
Delighted to have been re-elected on second count to represent Pembroke for another term. Thank you to everyone who helped and everyone who voted for me. It is a privlege and an honour.
Just arrived home from service to honour & remember
#cormacobraonain
it was a beautiful occasion of memory & sadness for a wonderful young man with loving tributes from many.For first time in my life I just could not speak. Cormac wud probably enjoy the fact that he silenced me
I want to wish
@MichealMartinTD
well as he steps down as Taoiseach. I profoundly disagree with many of this Governments policies but I do believe he is a decent man with good intentions.
Been in st. vincents hosital since about 5 after nearly collapsing at
@PresidentIRL
Garden Party in Aras an Uachtarain. Now wired up with cables and other things. Not sure if home tonight or tomorow.
Lovely to be at the opening of this new entrance to Iveagh Gardens today. Hopefully more people will discover this beautiful park in the centre of our City.
Delighted and somewhat overawed tonight to be elected Chairperson of
@DubCityCouncil
Housing Committee to succeed the excellent
@AlisonGilliland
...huge agenda but will give it everything I can.
My motion about creating a new Public space in front of Custom House on Saturdays and Sundays comes up tomorrow at Dublin Central Area Committee. Its a simple and cheap way to create a new public area. Hope its passed.
So sorry to hear of the death this morning of that great Dubliner from and of the Liberties and former Labour Councillor on
@dublincitycouncil
John Gallagher. John was a huge asset to saving our City and a really honourable colleague. May he Rest in Peace.
I was physically assaulted tonight by someone who thinks it ok to attack a public rep. I am sore and angry. Will be making a statement to Gardai in morning. Trendy journalists should be aware of their absolved responsibility.
I want to wish
@EamonRyan
he very best for the future. Have served as a Public Rep in Dublin Bay South with him on and off since 1993. Always found him decent, courteous and committed. Many who criticise him have done far less good.
@greenparty_ie
Far from me to defend
@rte
....but but...the attacks on the various people for having their unprotected photos with retiring staff member are unfair and absurd. From what I know they were brief photos to say adieu to a colleague. Give them a break.
tributes being paid to retiring
@JoeCostelloIE
across the
@DubCityCouncil
as he closes on 35 years committed service as a public representative. Thank you Joe.
I have seen stupid, vindictive, nosey, buracratic, interfering bad faith decisions by Government but this keeping receipts of what you ordered in the Pub/Restaurant takes the biscuit. Are they actively trying to annoy.
Honoured to be selected last night to contest my seventh Local Elections for
@Labour
to represent the Pembroke area and continue working on
@DubCityCouncil
as I have since 1993.
Can I wish all my friends & my opponents on Twitter every Happiness for Christmas. Remembering my own family who in Scouting parlance have "Gone Home" & especially remembering Cormac O' Braonain so sadly taken from us too soon
May the Christmas season be safe & happy for you all
My deepest sympathy to the family, all at Inner City Helping Homeless and friends of Anthony Flynn at this awful news and sad time. May he Rest in Peace.
Honoured and surprised to be elected again as Chair of
@DubCityCouncil
South East Area Committee for an unprecdented fifth year this term. Perhaps my "colleagues" are just trying to keep me at meetings in run in to next Locals
Just realised we were at the location of the Guinness "do you know the way to San Jose" add last week during our holiday in Cahirsiveen....we are so lucky to live in this beautiful country.
On another subject perhaps the
@IrishTimes
could buy a few dictionaries for their columnists. Difference in meaning of Nationalist and Republican would be good starting point. Proud to be Irish ...ashamed of PIRA and its glorifiers.
So thrilled to have a Labour TD again in Dublin Bay South to work with alongside my long standing comrade
@Maryfreehill1
....Dublin Bay South lucky to have such a quality TD.
Just finished reading presentation on Pedestrianising Merrion Row. Case really well made. I look forward to supporting implementation and ironing out any problems.
Really busy and informative visit to Amsterdam with cycling and workshops on cycling city with
@DubCityCouncil
team including new Active Mobility Officer. Lots of food for thought.
Yes many of us
@Labour
Councillors are down.... but not out. Tomorrow as a
@Labour
Councillor I will be chairing Area Committee trying to do my best for Dublin Bay South ...many many Labour Councillors will be working for their areas.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone in Pembroke for your incredible support! Serving you for 31 years has been an honour, and I hope to continue for another 5 years. Please vote today and support me with your No. 1.

Hi
@ReginaDo
The winter fuel allowance ends next week and I have asked to ask you to extend it during the crisis. Older people will be us iubg more electricity as they are "cocooned" over this period. Some already very worried about costs to them.
Just want to say thanks for all good wishes following my appointment as
@DubCityCouncil
Housing Committee Chair. On housing I am a pragmatist & will work with all to help deliver more new social & afford homes & improve quality particularly in flat complexes that deserve better.
@vincentbrowne
In a written response to me US Ambassador confirmed about a year ago they were happy for Jurys site to be used. Role of
@hse
in deterioration and non use of Baggot Street Hospital far worse.
Update on Cycelways...Donnybrook stretch of Dodder Greenway contract to be approved this year, Fitzwilliam Street issues resolved and work to start Q1 2020
on this the 50th Anniversary of the murder of Senator and former TD Billy Fox I ask why is there no significant memorial to this democrativaly elected Public Representative in Leinster House.
Congratulations to former Green Councillor Claire Wheeler on an honest, straightforward sensible response to the Eamonn Ryan controversy. Good one Claire.
Honoured yesterday to be elected Cathaoirleach of Association of Irish Regions. First task to highlight Council of Europes Congress of Local & Regional Authorities report on Local Govt....rates Ireland 4th worst system...only beaten into last place by Russia, Hungary and Moldova.
To be clear my comments re media is about the deteriorating way n which politics is covered. We r not all venal, corrupt, nasty types out to gut ordinary people. We r ordinary people trying 2 do job as well as we can. Some journos engage in an open season approach. I oppose that.
35 years ago my Mam of nine children voted against the 8th. Sadly she died a few weeks ago. Tonight you now have 35 minutes left to stand by brave women like her.
Lovely to meet up with old comrade.Together and with others we delivered more to Dublin Bay South than our opponents would even dream about. Happy Christmas.
My Aunt, Wife, Daughter, Sisters, Cousins ( and second cousin) and Nieces all at seat in
@DonnybrookVlg
Scout Hall in memory of my Dad setting out for Women's Marathon... fundraising for Royal Hospital Donnybrook in memory of my Man.....
Proud of them all
Honoured to have been re-elected Chairperson of the South East Area Committee today. The Area Committee represents a population greater than many full Councils. Before
@shane_malley
asks? There is no payment for the role.
Come on now
@fionnansheahan
on Brendan O Connor ..give me one example of Fine Gael delivering housing in Dublin Bay South...say over last fifty years. Even one.
Can
@rtenews
@sandra_hurley
ask why State is not using empty former Baggot Street Hospital or former Jurys Hotel D4 for accommodation purposes...absurd waste.
What an honour to be present for installation of the six Stolpersteine or Stumble Bricks to commemorate 6 Irish citizens murdered by Nazis in Concentration Camps Cllr Mary Callaghan representing the
@LordMayorDublin
gave lovely speech. Proud to have initiated this through Council
Does
@TodaywithClaire
and
@rte
think Sport is the only thing young people do. What about Youth Clubs, Scouts, adventure activities, arts and cultural groups etc????
@TonightVMTV
@mattiemcgrathtd
Dont ever recall Mattie being a campaigner for structured local democratic engagement through real Local Government reform. populism has never served our country well.
Can someone tell me why
@rte
always refers to Mary Lou as Sinn Fein President while others are described as Party Leaders. Other leaders are their Party Presidents also????
Not many people historically come out well from the appalling revelations in the Mothers and Baby Homes Report...but one man who did make a difference was Frank Cluskey. A good man.
Walking along the Promenade in Sandymount today I thought how lucky I am to live so close by and how honoured I have been to represent the area for going on 28 years now.
