So very sad to say my gorgeous husband Richard passed away this morning… I can’t comprehend never being able to chat, laugh and confide in him ever again… he was such an incredible person, so terribly sad. Remembering the many,
many amazing moments we shared ❤️ love you forever
Many years after D-Day, wreckage & personal items were found of Lt Col Meehan’s C47 that was shot down on the flight into the D-Day beaches. Note how it says all the chaps parachute hooks were locked, confirming none could have escaped. Very sad
The World at War. Wow! "Perhaps the time for thinking is over." Episode 1 of 26. You can watch along with me here: . All comments welcome! Just 25 episodes to go...
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here ❤️
Thinking of my gorgeous Richard on what would have been our wedding anniversary today… and just found the video of when he sent me a mystery parcel… an inflatable T-Rex!! Hilarious and Rich in a nutshell 🤣🤣🤣
What a great guy 🥰🙂🥂. Smiling at all the happy memories
That rounds off the end of the Operation Market Garden tour! Absolutely superb, have loved every minute. Finished with a 2 mile walk following 4 para back to our hotel… craved this beer!
On this day 27 years ago, Richard and I went on our first date and started going out. It was Easter Saturday and I remember we went for a bike ride together.
I can’t believe he’s not here… wish I could chat to him again. Missing my guiding star ❤️
Sat here having the most amazing dinner, looking out to the remains of Mulberry harbour on a misty evening… it’s hard to imagine what was happening out there all those years ago
London marathon 2023
@macmillancancer
What an amazing day! Loved every minute 💚
Raised a ton of money… thanks so much to you all
Managed to run the whole way and clock a sub 4 💪
The crowd & my wonderful friends really helped me round.. shouting “come on Lesley” the whole way!
What a treat… my neighbours relative was a tank mechanic and served in Italy during the war. He has given me this lovely book on the Italian campaign with details of the battles with some beautiful artwork 1/2
Soviet Memorial called “the tomb of the unknown warrior”, although the West Berliners knew it as “the tomb of the unknown rapist” because of what happened in the aftermath of the war in Berlin
As you all know I’ve been so excited about going to Arnhem Friday, especially after it was cancelled twice last year. Done a ton of reading and watched ABTF! However it seems Operation Market Garden is a bridge too far… 0% successful 😔
@WeHaveWaysPod
Literally loving life… had an amazing day touring the Falaise Gap with new American friends and
@WW2TV
& fabulous dinner in Bayeux with them and
@MagDDay4you
My neighbours just sent me this from their CCTV in August! Richard’s idea while they were on holiday… that’s him in a nutshell! What a lovely memory 🥰❤️🤣
Saw “One life” tonight… not a sound in the audience, everyone was captivated by it. All you could hear was crying at the end.
Excellent and moving film, I cried the whole way through. Must read more about it.
Chatting to the guy in newsagent… “I’m going to a history festival at the weekend”…
“history?”
“Yes it’s like Glastonbury but history… WW2 and tanks, there’ll be tanks”…
“Oh and it’s at a brewery 🍺🍺”
Don’t think he was convinced
Great visit to the Schindler factory this afternoon - the factory gate and his desk, a memorial of the pots that were made in the factory and a curved wall of 1,200 names who were saved
Delighted with this WAAF medal group I just purchased. I particularly like the medal/badge with the lady’s photo on it. Going to try and look for more of these
Superb visit to Colditz Castle today!!
So much to see and incredible to stand where the Allied POW’s did and look from the windows and see what they saw…
Having the loveliest evening then feeling terribly sad as soon as I’m home..: what the hell is that… clearly everyone thinks I’m an alcoholic… sometimes you just want to escape… I can’t do this
Made a start on arranging books into genres on the new shelf… battle campaigns, German forces/SS/Hitler, other aspects and conferences. Loads of space left
What’s really crap about cancer is my gorgeous chap can’t eat half a starter without being unwell…. All the time, everyday 😥
He can enjoy a vino luckily xx
