Why is ankle mobility important? The longer an athlete can maintain their heel in contact with the ground as the center of mass moves forward, the more torque is held in the rear hip.

I like the landmine squat for a few reasons: 1) the path of the bar enforces a good squat pattern - hips back and knees out 2) it's easy to add some volume without loading the spine 3) can load it heavier than goblet squats - more core benefit.

So much of baseball takes place in the frontal plane but outside of lateral lunge variations, there isn't a ton of frontal plane exercises. Solution: take a sagittal plane exercise and add a frontal plane stability component to it with a medial band pull.

The forearm unwinding from supination to pronation helps distribute the forces across the forearm muscles to protect the UCL. Manual resistance supination/pronation in fall when throwing intensity is low can help prepare the muscles for the stress of when intensity increases.

I can’t stress this enough, the energy system doesn’t change whether you’ve thrown 5 pitches or 100 pitches. It’s still one explosive movement with 15-20 seconds rest, the activity doesn’t change. Physiology doesn’t care about your opinion.

For an effective lead leg block, athletes need eccentric force to stop forward momentum before quickly applying force concentrically. Fly wheel training helps the athlete decelerate in a shorter amount of time, thus developing higher eccentric force capabilities.

The Drop Step is a plyocare drill we prescribe for athletes who have trouble with early trunk rotation because the counter rotation helps delay trunk rotation. However, you can’t throw at high intent everyday so incorporating med ball drills can speed up the patterning process.
