Very interesting point but I think github’s main function isn’t simply mapping repo names to commit hashes but it rather aims to provide infrastructure for effective collaboration & cocreation & community building. The most promising project in that direction is @radicle_xyz .

The main function of GitHub is to be a repository governance platform that maps repository names to their latest commit hashes. It would be trivial to replace this with a smart contract that maps repositories to their latest commit hashes, plus IPFS for storage.

k, got celestia fully running on iphone. Compiled golang into c-archive, including all the libp2p stuff. Then running with native swift. Middle 30 seconds kinda boring as its all in memory, no disk store, but there you go. Das on your iphone. wonder what can be done now

. @lazyledger_io is essentially this but will also provide default execution environments (leveraging optimistic rollups) which can be used where needed as an alternative to client side contracts:

Really enjoyed @distractedm1nd ’s at @modular_summit : “chat, is this real”. Think a key-directory ala google’s key-transparency or @KeybaseIO but on steroids: runs in your browser/web-app (wasm-based), aims to remove usage of central RPC endpoints, and uses SNARKs/validity proofs

Modularity is a natural antidote to maximalism. Monoliths are locked into one static design they must defend. Modularity is about freedom of choice among diverse components. There is no one design to rule them all. Don’t be a maximalist be a modularist 🤝
