Darts referees make judgment calls based on what we see at the oche. If someone is throwing a dart away while walking, the referee has to make a quick decision. If you want every dart to count, make sure both feet are behind the oche rather than walking and relying on VAR.

I would just like to take a moment to congratulate the Belgian fans here at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze. They were so respectful all weekend...even when Belgian players were playing. When booing started, the crowd quickly told them to be quiet. You were fantastic!

Well that's my refereeing done for Riesa this year. @HuwWare100 and I have done the same number of matches this tournament. He is on 212. I'm on 234. I've essentially refereed 2 whole matches more. I might advocate getting paid by the leg!

Switzerland, you should be ashamed. Your luggage lockers at Bern station take 9 Swiss Francs in coins only. Who has coins?! I had to locate an ATM, get 20 Francs out then find a shop and buy the right amount to get coins in change. Then the automated cashier handed me a note!

Happy with a 170 finish in practice with the lads last night and a 125 finish (bull 25 bull). Happy with averaging 84.34 in the scoring phase in the 5 legs I played in the pub league. Shame I lost as I couldn’t close out the match after leaving D5 after just 15 darts! #doubles

Just reading The Times and reporter Giles Smith accuses darts refs as being “battery-operated doorbells”. I’m sure he’s saying it for a cheap thrill but I assume he just means we are able to produce different sounds, have Duracell longevity and are a very useful feature!!!

I don't watch TV but I had a tip-off that I should watch Line of Duty. I was hooked. I was absolutely astonished when I heard an interview with @martin_compston that he was Scottish. His acting is sublime. I wonder how difficult it was not to slip back into his Scottish accent.

That’s yet another double 12 wired for the 9 darter that I’ve called at the world championships! It would have been a fantastic story had Paul Lim hit it...almost 28 years after he hit his first! #lovethedarts
