I went to the
@Arsenal
event last night, about the new stadium art. It was brilliant. It was really good to see the old players and some old teammates. All my drinks were soft drinks. I've been sober for over two years now and I'm feeling good.
Hi everyone, I'm back. I'm feeling good. I'm walking okay, but I couldn't play football. I know I'm improving, so that's good news. I'm going for walks every day. My memory is getting better too. Thanks to
@Arsenal
and Palace (
@CPFC
) for the new clothes.
Hello everyone. I just wanted to say how proud I was to walk my daughter Natalie down the aisle at Crystal Palace on Monday. I was so happy and emotional to be able to do this. I’d like to tell the world how proud I am!
#22MonthsSober
too!
@DanBPhotography
was fantastic.
I'm looking forward to Arsenal Palace tonight. Arsenal invited me to the game and I’ll be in the directors box, so I'm very grateful. I’m feeling well and I'm excited.

Kenny is currently ill in hospital. He is being well cared for and does not have COVID-19. Kenny’s family and close friends kindly ask the media to respect his and their privacy, plus that of the healthcare workers treating Kenny.
Ian Wright was there, Lee Dixon, David Seaman and Paul Davis too. Lee said that I was his hero when he came to the club, which was lovely. Seeing the lads was so nice. David Rocastle's wife was there too.
It's 34 years today since we won the Littlewoods Cup. Being captain of
@Arsenal
is very very special. Liverpool were always difficult. When Ian Rush had scored they never lost, but Charlie Nick scored twice. We were all a bit nervous obviously. Great memories. It was fantastic.
The former Millwall goalkeeper Brian Horne interviewed me in front of a crowd of fans in a suite. He mentioned that I’ve been sober for 2 years now and I feel proud. It's not easy to give up drink. I know that. I feel alright. I've got the support of my family, it's nice.
I was at Wembley last night. It was fantastic, a great atmosphere. People were singing out of their brains! I really enjoyed it! The lads played really well. They showed they're a real team. They attacked. The young players are coming through, things are looking really promising.
It was great being there last night, in the directors box. It was really nice. I spoke with Pat Rice, Liam Brady and Tony Adams. It was lovely to see them.
I've done an exclusive interview with Daniel Matthews from the Daily Mail, about how alcohol has damaged my life. I've been on a tough road, but I'm almost 3 years sober now. It's been fantastic getting my life back, but it's not easy.
The miracle of Kenny Sansom.
The untold story of his 18 weeks in hospital.
Doctors feared he would never leave. After a coma, he had to learn to walk, talk & eat again.
Arsenal, Crystal Palace & England legend is now 3 years sober.
Exclusive I’view:
I can't believe it's 35 years now since Arsenal won the League Cup and I was captain. It was a great day, especially to win at Wembley. It was something special.
I went to the memorial service this week for my old Arsenal teammate John Hollins. His son
@chrishollinsTV
spoke at the church and we went back to Stamford Bridge. There were plenty of ex-pros, like David O'Leary & Tony Adams and Liam Brady gave a talk. It was great to be there.
I was a guest in a box at Millwall yesterday, for their game against West Brom. It was really good. They looked after me very well. It was good to see Millwall. It was a nice atmosphere, we had nice food and the people were very nice to me.
I had a nice chat with George Armstrong's daughter Jill and my old manager George Graham. I had a few words with Edu too - but I didn't give him any advice though!
I was at Arsenal Spurs a few weeks ago. It was a lovely birthday present when we won! I said we'd win 3-1 and I was bang on it. Fans said nice things to me afterwards and it was nice having some photos taken with people. The fans were very happy.
Kenny remains ill in hospital and is receiving 24-hour care. He's stable and does not have COVID-19. Kenny’s family and close friends still kindly ask the media to respect Kenny's privacy and theirs, plus that of the healthcare workers treating Kenny.
It was an incredible feeling for me to be at Wembley. I played there many times. It was fantastic seeing all the fans, people were walking past me afterwards and cheering! I expected a good performance, second half especially. It was fantastic, with the fans back.
Arsenal should win tonight, they should be full of confidence. But I've got a feeling it'll be 2-2. I think Arsenal will start really well, but might let Palace back in. You've got to try to win the game.
I was a guest at Palace v Brentford on Saturday. It was a really good day. It was lovely just to be invited, in the directors lounge. It reminded me of the old days. Great support from everyone and thanks to Jane for looking after me, my daughter Natalie and her husband Tony.
Hello everyone. I'm feeling good. I thought Arsenal would have won against Palace on Monday. Vieira is doing a good job at Palace, he's getting them to play good football. Arsenal didn't close them down properly and Palace deserved to win.
Tierney being injured is bad for Arsenal. They'll have to do something about it, they can't be poor again. I don't know about Xhaka or Saka at left-back. I'd keep Tavares in and help him to get some confidence to play well. We need Saka to attack really, that's his best position.
It’s sad to hear that Pele has passed away. He was a lovely man and a fantastic footballer. I was very lucky to meet him at Highbury in 1981 and I’ll never forget it.
Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday messages recently, when I turned 64. I think The Beatles wrote a song about that, ha ha! I didn't hear from my clubs. I think you get forgotten a bit when you get old.
Just going to the Arsenal event and seeing ex-players and celebrities, it was great. Being on the stadium artwork till now, it felt great to be a legend of Arsenal. It's fantastic. I wish them well to get the new artwork in place, I look forward to it.
Today I met my Great Granddaughter Robyn Rose Doris Sherriff 🌹
Glad to be here and 5 years sober to experience these moments in life ❤️
Let’s hope she takes after me on the pitch. ⚽️

Arsenal coming back to beat Leicester was a really welcome sign. That's the sign of a good team. Arsenal are looking a really good team. They have a great team spirit too, you can see it. It's very important and that really helps you to win football matches.
I spoke with David Miles, Liam Brady, Pat Rice and Per Mertesacker. The club found an old photo of me with my daughter Natalie when she was little. It was such a nice touch. So I left disappointed with the attitude from the team, but happy I met old friends and spoke with fans.
Hello everyone. Can't believe it's 32 years today. The first time Liverpool lost when Ian Rush scored and two of the softest goals from Charlie Nick! It was a fantastic day and I enjoyed every moment of it. Being captain made it special. We should have won the following year too!
Zaha might go to Arsenal and obviously it’s a tricky one for Palace. It’s a similar one to myself! I was told by my manager “Don’t get changed. Drive over to Arsenal, they want to sign you.” I rung my brother and told him I’d signed. He said “You wally, Liverpool want ya.”
Sad to think it’s 22 years since David Rocastle passed. He was just a fantastic lad. Rocky was as good a player as he was a person. When he scored that League Cup winner at Spurs that was a brilliant night. He went to Leeds, so both teams will give him a fantastic applause today.
I had a fantastic time at Arsenal yesterday. Everyone was great to me. My son-in-law Tony took me and we were sat with the Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter.
A few pictures from Saturdays game, thank you to all the fans that made me feel welcome and of course to
@Arsenal
for the hospitality.
Great to be around ex-player and friends chatting about the old days.
Good to bump into
@EbereEze10
on the way out.
I supported Chelsea as a kid when Hollins was there. Chelsea was John's big club, the club of his career. He was experienced when he joined Arsenal, he always had something up his sleeve. He was the thinker. A good guy, great for the squad. He was funny, but not as funny as me.
People recognised me at Millwall yesterday, it was nice. When I was at Crystal Palace we played Millwall quite a few times. They kicked me to pieces and I learned a few swear words!
The new Arsenal artwork is fantastic. I think all the old legends are on it too. It shows me holding the Littlewoods Cup. Vic Akers was there, the old kit man and we had a good chat with my daughter Natalie. It was a lovely event.
I don’t know where time goes! It’s been a while, but I’ve just been busy and the person who helps me has been busy. Time can fly sometimes. But I want to get back active with tweets and blogs again, because I love talking about football and telling my story. So thanks everyone.
Statement: Kenny Sansom is in the early stages of recovery from a brain condition. He is conscious, able to talk and very grateful for people's support.
Please visit Kenny's website for more details.
Tyrick Mitchell had a great season, playing for Palace and England too. If he carries on like that, he can be like me! He's had a good season. He needs to stay in the Palace team now and just keep playing his game.
I’m looking forward to Wembley. I’m really happy to be there supporting Palace with my daughter Natalie. We’ll be in the crowd with the Palace supporters on Sunday, cheering the team on.
I’m looking forward to being at the Emirates today as a guest of
@Arsenal
for the early kick off against
@CPFC
Always enjoy seeing two of my former clubs play.
Hope to see an enjoyable game.
See you there!
Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts after my Daily Mail interview. It means a lot to me. It was quite relaxing to do the interview, answering Daniel’s questions as truthfully as I can. I'm doing my best every day. You can also watch a video of the interview.
I'd like to get back into football in some way. The game has changed since I played. The ball gets passed around the defence, then it comes back to the keeper. They give it away now and nobody says anything.
I've been impressed with Arsenal this season. They're not scoring loads, but when they need them they score. They're doing the important things in the game. Tierney, Zinchenko and Tomiyasu have been good - although they won't replace me!
I saw
@JohnSalako
,
@_VinceHilaire
and Steve Kember at Palace. It was great to see them. It feels tremendous to go back to the old ground. They're such fantastic fans. They give such fantastic atmosphere to the ground. It reminds me of the old days, the old old days!
I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. I’m on the way to Palace. Should be a great game against Arsenal tonight, the two clubs that mean such a lot to me.
I was sad to hear about Trevor Francis passing. He's a real loss. He could do little tricks and he had pace and could finish on both feet. He was the first British £1m player and made a name for himself. I might have been the second! I don't think I was! I'm worth a million now!
I haven’t seen much of Kieran Tierney, but I’ve heard he’s a real talent. I’ve been a young left-back joining Arsenal myself! The Premier League is a different challenge to Scotland, but if it comes off I wish him all the best.
Everyone mentioned before the game that Liverpool had never lost when Ian Rush had scored, but it was soon forgotten. It was so big to win the trophy and such a fantastic time.
Watching the World Cup took me back to playing in World Cups myself. It gave me memories of the tournaments. Things I did, things I shouldn't have. Mainly things I shouldn't have!
Terry Neill signed me for Arsenal. I signed straightaway when Arsenal wanted me, as you would. Arsenal was great for me. Palace looked after me very well and I had Terry Venables teaching me. I learned a lot from him, but Arsenal was a bigger club and bigger crowd.
Looking forward to being at the
@Coventry_City
vs
@QPR
game tomorrow. Attending the Coventry legends day is always a good event,
and watching two of my former clubs on their final day of the season makes it even better.

Arteta has a good squad. The way Arsenal play, it suits the players and the ones they've brought in. When you watch the team they look good going forward, but I'd like to see them get more goals and get more balls into the box - like I used to. I wish I was a bit younger!
Arsenal didn't make top four in the end this season. Defensively, they weren't sound for me. A good goalkeeper, but I think the back four don't stand up for me, as an ex-left back! Changes in the line-up didn't help. Attacking-wise, we didn't create enough chances.
I was very frustrated with how Arsenal played to be honest. There was a lack of ambition and forward play. It felt like the throw-ins took an age and there were too many short corners. We failed to put Brighton’s defensive players under any pressure until the last ten minutes.
Hello everyone, I'm looking forward to the new season. Palace v Arsenal is a massive match. I'm going and I think it'll be a close game. It's hard to know who will win. It would be nice for the fans to see some goals and if it was a draw. 3-3, that would do me!
