Parent conference participation increased a ton in the virtual space. In some cases, 300%+. Maybe our definition of “parental involvement” should have less to do with assuming parents don’t care and more to do with making engagement more convenient for families. They do care.

Good Morning. Teachers, consider that some of our kids had challenging winter breaks. Don't make them rehash by asking "how was your break?" Instead just tell them you missed them and you're so happy to see them again. It's a subtle act of compassion. We got this.

If an administrator only enters the classrooms for 'observational' purposes, then it'll always feel like a "gotcha" to the teacher. If an administrator instead drops encouragement, inspiration, and relational time, then it'll feel like "I gotcha back!" Gotcha Back > Gotcha.

This week tried to take me out, but I’m still here. So to celebrate, I took myself on a breakfast date this morning, in my own kitchen no doubt. Pound Cake French Toast, Southwestern Eggs, Honey-Cinnamon Bacon, & OJ. This is how my #SelfCareSaturday is going. Bone Apple Tea.

I accidentally wiped out an entire doctoral paper due tonight on my computer. 12+ hours of synthesis and writing. Gone. Gone. Done. Disappeared. It's been quite the year, yet I know God is still good. Good vibes solicited.

Had a Principal’s meeting almost all day yesterday. Got back 30 mins before dismissal. Immediately had to go see some kids. Popped in classrooms and one little 6 year old with no front teeth said “I mithhhed you I didn’t stheee you all day.” I melted. 🥹❤️ I love my “job.”
