During The Depression, Louisiana Gov/Senator Huey Long paved 10,000 miles of roads, hired 20K highway workers, provided free school lunches, books, built hospitals, 100s of bridges, lowered college tuition & paid for it thru a 5¢/barrel tax on oil.
He was assassinated in 1935.
