Half-Life 2: VR Mod is actually fantastic. I was unsure how such a fast paced experience would translate to VR... but this is some A+ stuff imo.
10/10. Will never play the game on a flatscreen ever again.
@StephenSeanFord
I knew the moment they announced it that people would feel this way.
Many expect Bethesda to crank out games faster now that they've expanded and were bought out by MS, but the fact of the matter is that games you can play for a decade+ take almost equally as long to create.
Stormland at max settings on the RTX 4070 is a sight to behold. Felt like I was seeing VR for the first time again.
Having a solid framerate that never dips is hard for my brain to process after I got used to lower settings and brute forcing lag on my GTX 1080 all these years.
VR has seriously changed my view of what a "game" even is.
A VR game is a pocket universe that people can visit. That they can exist in.
Sure you may only play an hour or two per day, but that's an hour where you were transported elsewhere.
Wasn't expecting a Demo for a VR game to make me feel this fuggin cool! >_>
District Steel is BUSSIN. 🙏 Definitely looking forward to the Early Access release.
Big thank you to
@PolitelyWicked
for gifting me a copy of
@DanceDashVR
🙏
Still figuring out the groove of things, but I had a blast trying it out this morning! I can see myself playing this A LOT. Gonna take me a bit to be as cool as
@Cake_VR
in this game but I'll get there. 🫡
This may be a small and insignificant detail to some, but Hellsplit: Arena is one of the few VR games I've played that has like... actual hand animations based on controller rotation and positioning.
Aside from gripping to make fists at the end, I never touched a single input.
Bigscreen Beyond my budget
Pimax Crystal clear I ain't got the money for that mf

Pico so tiny in the states it doesn't exist

"It's the best VR kit ever made"
And yet... I have core memories of VR places. I have the confidence to dance and create using VR that I lack in the real world.
VR is an extremely empowering medium. Reading books is great but it's never had a tangible effect on my reality. Books are fleeting. VR can be forever.
I'm so confused...
All I had heard or seen about this game was that it was a pretty bad VR port. Did it get some really good post launch updates or... was this just the result of Non VR Steam users voting for an IP they actually recognized?
No shade towards Hitman, but really?
Contender for my personal VR GOTY.
It's not often a VR game makes me push past the discomfort of the headset to play for more than 2 hours at a time.
Zenith has had me logging some 4-5 hour sessions. 🥴
Every time I jump back into VAIL I have a blast. It's such a tight and responsive VR shooter. Really hoping the playerbase gets a boost with the Quest launch. This game deserves to be played! 🙏
I say all this as someone who generally doesn't like multiplayer to begin with. >_>
I love VR because it's a medium I can literally just put myself into.
The age old "imagine if you could be in a video game" has passed.
I've been doing that for a few years now.
Sometimes you don't realize when a generation moves forward.
It's definitely moving right now.
I love the new weapon collision system in
@everslaught
.
Adds a feeling of impact without introducing wonkiness like a full physics based collision system would. Really smart VR game design! 🙏
More mucking about with UEVR and SCP: 5K. Still trying to tune an optimal configuration that will be worth sharing.
That said. Damn this game looks nice in headset. Runs into a few performance hitches from time to time, but I also have settings pretty much maxed.

It's a bit blurry in headset (likely some forced TAA), but Hellish Quart's VR mode has convinced me that every fighting game should support VR. Mans hand went flying at me. 👀
Seriously. VR is so great for being both a player and a spectator.
A 60 hour VR RPG. That's gonna run on Standalone. And it looks this good.
Half-Life: Alyx set a high bar graphically, but I think this will raise that bar astronomically in terms of scope and scale of AAA VR titles.
Loki’s chaos has spread to the realm of Ancient Egypt. Battle gods and monsters on an epic scale in

, the highly anticipated VR ARPG from Sanzaru Games & Oculus Studios - only on Meta Quest. Coming Winter 2023. Pre-order now for in-game exclusives & more.
With such a high resolution headset I can really appreciate 3D assets and see them as tangible physical objects.
A combination of great art and solid coding makes it feel almost real at times.
Hopefully the video compression isn't too bad. 🔥⚔

Hope the 30 series doesn't have the same ridiculous pricing scheme that the 20 series had.
I still remember back when I had gotten a 980 Ti, it was only a $600 card. Now the flagship Ti cards are fucking $1200. Like double the God damn price. Even the 1080 Ti was only $700ish.
Every time I jump back into VAIL I have a blast. It's such a tight and responsive VR shooter. Really hoping the playerbase gets a boost with the Quest launch. This game deserves to be played! 🙏

I'm not doing this to dog on Humanity. I'm sure it's a fantastic experience, but... really?
You're telling me Vertigo 2 and The Light Brigade. Two games built specifically to be played IN VR, didn't get nominations for Best VR Game? HuuuuUUUH? >_>
I feel like the "I can't go back to Flat Games" sentiment for VR users partially stems from how limiting the input can be for the player.
When you're fully immersed, regardless of how graphically mind blowing a VR experience is... that's when the developers vision really shines.
Dear

developers.
Not putting an option for Smooth Turning in 2021 is shooting yourself in the foot.
I'm not sure if the thought process is "maybe players won't mind", but if you are targeting the Enthusiast long time players... they will most definitely mind.
@NVIDIAGeForce
Listen. Charge whatever you're going to charge... but please do not insult us by acting like $799 MSRP for a 70 class card is a good deal. It's not.
Literally no one likes the new pricing. When I see posts like this it just makes me regret supporting team green over the years.
@DaveOshry
I feel for her... but also I'm excited for something fresh and modern feeling from Bethesda. The last two Fallout entries were kinda doodoo ngl.
I tried out V-Speedway for the first time and I gotta say....
This is the best damn driving experience I've had in VR! No plugging in a gamepad or $400+ steering wheel. Just extremely well designed, built FOR VR, Driving controls. ❤️

Asgard's Wrath 2 IS AAA VR. It's just been optimized to run on a 3 year old mobile chipset. I don't personally think that makes the production any less AAA.
I will say though. If you're a creator, Quest 3 is probably an essential upgrade for recording purposes. My Q2 chugs. x)
Asgard's Wrath 2 is the first Quest 2 game to make me actually WANT to use my headset Standalone. Uncharted Rifts are addicting! 🤌
That said. This is a "git gud" type game. Especially on higher difficulties. Those looking for a relaxing experience may want to look elsewhere. 🔥
Why don't PCVR headset owners buy VR games?
I don't mean us in the Twitter bubble who hype ourselves up for every decent looking project that crops up on our doomscroll.
I'm talking the average PCVR user. Why don't they buy games? Aren't there like at least 2 million of em?
VR hot take:
Some form of weight sim/smoothing is important to make object interactions feel fluid and enjoyable.
When I see trailers for upcoming VR titles and the weapon they're holding is shaking like crazy I immediately lose interest. I can feel the jank through my screen.
I wish Fallout 4 VR got as much love from it's Mod community as Skyrim VR gets. 🥲 I think between the two BGS VR titles Modded Skyrim VR feels WAY better.
I only have like 30 mods (mostly framework with retextured characters) so far, but I'm already having a good time. 😂
Need to make some tweaks and tune performance, but I'm getting close to my ideal Skyrim VR mod list.
Not going for "next gen" or hyper realism. Just want to bring that og BGS charm up to modern standards. I still want to feel like I'm playing Skyrim. x)
Figured while I'm assembling my mod list I should highlight mods I see talked about less often that still greatly improve the experience.
Pseudo Physical Weapon Collision and Parry is one of them. An actual game changer for melee combat in Skyrim VR imo!
Asgard's Wrath 2 on Quest 2. Recording chugged a little likely because I maxed out bitrate for recording, but in headset it appeared very smooth.
I'm like... barely 2 hours into this game? If that? I haven't even seen the open world yet. o.o The COMBAT tho. Max difficulty obv.😤
Grindpunk is peak levels of VR immersion. 🤟
Thanks so much to Megautomata for allowing me an early look at the game and permission to share whatever spicy clips I may end up recording. 😁

VR has changed my opinion of Fallout 4. I feel like it works way better in this medium than it did on Flat.
The caveat being that mods are 1,000% necessary.

Holy boring event. I'll get a Quest 3 eventually, but I don't feel like they're doing a great job of selling people on it beyond "it's newer and better".
@SadlyItsBradley
It's almost like different input methods require specific design considerations to work properly for their respective mediums.
That can't be it tho. The only difference between VR and Flat is that Flat users are being locked out by gimmicky hardware... says every Flat user ever.
Opinion. Eye tracking would be a better selling point for the Quest 3 than Mixed Reality.
Social VR is undeniably VR's system seller.
Face, eye, and body track are all additive to the overall VR experience. Mixed Reality is disruptive.

Footage of me dancing in my flesh prison💀. Sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm improving based on VRC recordings alone, so I record a smol irl clip to look at what I'm doing more objectively.
Everything is so smooth. 😩
Tbh, I dream of the day this level of tracking fidelity is standard. I know some people will laugh or scoff about "enthusiast, blah blah blah", but there are so many performance artists out there who are truly coming into their own thanks to the tech!
No lie. This is probably the best $15 I've ever spent on a VR game! >_>
It has a player body with arms! BIG arms. I feel like the Hulk while playing. I love it. 🤣

The RoboMod Demo for Hellsplit: Arena is so dope. Can't wait to see what the full version has in store.
Also it's crazy to think the official Mod SDK has only been out for a couple months. 👀
Legendary Tales 1.0 has sadly been delayed once again. On the plus side though, we got a nice meaty Steam post and even some new gifs showing off combat with a harder enemy type. 👀
Honestly don't even mind the delay. These devs are COOKING. 🤌🔥
You know what people really aren't talking about in the VR space? Ground simulation.
Trudging through snow, grass, mud, dirt and sand. With realistic physics and deformations. Also footprints. Where the footprints at in VR? 🤔
