Horrified. By day 4, he has had enough and hunted down an Indian restaurant in Rome. On our penultimate day, he peers over at our Uber driver and asks, “Does Rome have any good food?” Driver says, “Rome is known for food! What type of food do you want?” My dad responds…

When I was 12, I got a 4.0. My dad asked why I didn’t get a 5.0. Got a 100% on a test. He asked why I didn’t get above 100%. Got an A+. Why didn’t I get an A++? The #immigrant (or #desi ?) mindset that has fueled my work ethic…and would be my downfall sans therapy.

I know that dealing with these views in patients will come with time, and with effort. I know I’m privileged as far as a lot of -isms go. I know I got validation from my attending today to be firm, and loud, and aptly horrified. Hatred is not okay. In any context. 10/10.

@AjvictoryMD @hayleymagill Outsourcing should also be normalized! There shouldn’t be any shame or stigma for not doing everything yourself.
