As people have worked out, I no longer work for GenderGP. This is hard as they provide vital care, but their working conditions were a large part of why I spent most of last year in a nervous breakdown. So, I've decided the harm they've done to me shouldn't be excused. 1/13
I'm proud to be the first openly transgender woman to be elected co-chair of
@GreenPartyWomen
It's great to be elected alongside a majority of women who support all women and non binary people
I'll make a full statement on my vision for an intersectional
@TheGreenParty
shortly
Mridul Wadhwa did nothing wrong.
What I read this as, is a trans woman being forced to stand down as CEO because she refused to implement transphobic policies, like the dog whistle "single sex spaces" and for protecting trans survivors from transphobia.
Trans people do have a home in
@TheGreenParty
Transphobia does not.
Self ID is now party policy.
"Sex Based Rights" was defeated.
The party will not be debating if my workplace should be banned in the UK.
We won 🏳️⚧️💚🎉
The Cass report is not evidence. It's a politically motivated report that landed Dr Cass a peerage.
And Cass didn't even recommend banning puberty blockers for trans kids.
The Labour government is just continuing the transphobia of the Tories, so much for the promise of change.
Puberty Blockers. A 🧵
Children’s healthcare must always be led by evidence.
Medicine given to children must always be proven safe and effective first.
I know there’s lots of fear and anxiety.
Let me explain why this decision was taken.
1/9
I know I'm likely to lose some friends, and not everyone will agree with me posting this. In short, I feel like because I wanted to help people, which GenderGP definitely does for its patients, I was taken advantage of for my labour at the expense of my own mental health. 13/13
First of all, GenderGP considers everyone who works for them as contractors. I was paid £9 a hour, with no holiday pay, no sick pay or any other benefits. I was told this what everyone willing agreed to keep costs low as possible, this is popular lie from management. 2/13
My sexuality is queer. My attraction to other people is queer. My relationship style is queer. My gender is queer. I'm queer, it's our word, get over it.
As a black transfem, I'm more critical than anyone about c!s white men who claim to be allies, using it as an excuse to being racist or sexist.
This isn't the case with David Tennant. We all wish Kemi Badenoch would go away and shut up because of the things she does and says.
@aaron_theroad
@PinkNews
After decades of women fighting not to be valued by their reproductive capability, we have this nonsense.
And they have the gall to call themselves feminists.
The catalyst for my nervous breakdown was a hit piece by the Daily Mail in February 2021 about being elected co-chair of Green Party women. I thought I would find support at GenderGP, but my political participation just became an greater issue for them as time went on. 3/13
I was made to feel bad anytime GenderGP was mentioned in a transphobic article about me, and made to feel like it was my fault that these things are being published. Around Feb 2021, I also started to need time off for my mental health, but couldn't as it would be unpaid. 4/13
Most of GenderGP's senior management are cis and are friends or family of one another. I felt troubled for a long time about the nepotism that I felt was happening.
The letter was not well received by management, but no further action was taken against our colleague at least 8/13
I'm under no illusion why my hours suddenly became a bigger issue for them than before, but I had to speak up for what I thought was right, even if it led to me being unemployed, which it seems like it did. I guess I'm still trying to do what is right. 12/13
Another thing that makes the Green Party different.
Drugs should be a public health issue, not a criminal justice issue.
Ensure the safety of people using drug and take money away from organised crime.
Stop the war on drugs, vote Green for legalisation and regulation.
The co-leader of

The
@LibDems
haven't yet highlighted their pre-existing policy – have any other parties mentioned cannabis in their campaigns yet?
This goes on until September when the following linked tweet gets posted. The company reaction was to try to find who was the source for this. A few weeks went by and they seemed to pin it on someone who internally complained about working conditions. 6/13
So we've received word that
@GenderGP
is moving from a patient focused model to a "customer focused model" This will involve hiring an expensive CEO, while continuing to pay their predominantly trans workforce minimum wage.
A group of us inside the company decided to write to Helen. We asked for no action to be taken against the person they were pinning this on, a living wage, holiday pay, sick pay, a support group for trans colleagues and for a senior position to be created for a trans person. 7/13
From there, I started struggling to meet my contracted hours due to the nervous breakdown. I was pulled into some meetings for the first few months of this happening, including one where I was told maybe I shouldn't have a job right now, which caused more mental stress. 5/13
One of the questions, which I'll quote in full was "Some of the requests in the letter appear to be asking for different terms and conditions for our trans team members. How does that sit, from your perspective, with the notion of equality with your cisgender colleagues?" 10/13
Twitter has finally taken action and banned Graham Linehan, otherwise known as Glinner.
This space has just gotten a bit safer for trans folks and allies, it's wonderful to see transphobia finally being taken seriously.
Management then started what I felt was a very hostile round of questions to each of us separately, when we asked for a group meeting in the letter. I felt like a lot of these questions missed the point of the concerns that we raised and were there to intimate me. 9/13
I'll say, it's interesting that "Gender Criticals" are saying I'm breaking the law by putting my sex as female on the census, which is legal, as I believe it to be a true statement.
When over the previous guidance, they were all ready to boycott the census, which is illegal.
About a week after this, I was pulled into another meeting about my hours and a performance improvement plan was put in place for the first time. Two weeks later I was pulled into a final meeting after still not being able to do enough hours and was essentially terminated. 11/13
Another complaint was submitted against me, which makes it four in total.
There needs to be an independent review of the Green Party's complaints process because it's not fit for purpose.
I want to spend my time getting Greens elected, not dealing with transphobic complaints.
Claiming people 12-16 shouldn't be prescribed hormones rests on the idea that allowing hormones produced by someone's body to dictate puberty is the default position.
Why should a trans person need to wait until 16+ to start puberty and cis people are allowed to without thought?
ADHD is badly named and is called after how we appear to people.
We feel bored most of the time and everything seems important most of the time.
Which leads us to stimming and finding it difficult to focus on any one thing.
We don't feel hyperactive, nor deficit in attention.
When I was suspended by the Green Party it was on a "no fault" basis, the party disciplinary committee has now confirmed that I did nothing wrong by putting my sex as female on the census.
I hope to receive an explanation of why they thought it was needed to suspend me at all.
Contrary to what being said, there was no actual win for "Gender Criticals" today.
The court found the Green Party failed to cite a breach of the code of conduct in Shahrar Ali's disciplinary process, though it didn't say he didn't breach it.
All other claims were dismissed.
I really don't understand what is wrong with the UK, that some people have built an entire identity out of being transphobic.
And gender criticals just seemly proudly announcing that they are, it's all so very wild.
People keep saying that I want to remove sex from the Equality Act, which is not true at all.
Saying sex is a socially constructed idea, isn't about removing it as a protected characteristic.
It's saying you shouldn't be defined by what a doctor said you are when you were born.
Watched it back and Emma has once again mocked my pronouns.
Even before I was elected co-chair last year, she persistently attacked me personally, along with the rest of the transphobic nonsense she spouts.
Shows just how much the Green Party's disciplinary process is broken.
.
@TheGreenParty
Chair of
@GreenPartyWomen
went on Posie Parker’s transphobic YouTube channel (presumably so they could both revel in their transphobia wrapped up as “protecting women”?
Is this *really* who you want representing The Green Party? 😣
Last year when I was on the Green Party Women committee, when we were in a meeting. Emma Bateman asked the other members of the committee if they thought I was female. Then called me male and said males shouldn't be in a women's group. How is this person still in the Green Party?
Reading a policy motion being put forward by some members to Green Party conference that says:
"the sex-biological characteristics unique to women which include menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and physically diminutive stature and strength"
Is this feminism?
I'll share some Green Party policy, if it's a deal-breaker for you, I would suggest finding another party to vote for.
The Green Party recognises that trans men are men, trans women are women, and that non-binary identities exist and are valid.
I am now the Equality & Diversity Officer for Bristol Green Party, I hope to expand on the work that has seen more women, LGBTIQA+ people and young people selected as Green Party candidates than ever before and make sure all voices are represented in the city.
If Labour wants to take transphobic ex-Greens they can, we don't want anything to do with them.
Not sure it's anything to boast about though, but Labour seems to be encouraging transphobia these days, so it's on brand for them.
Lovely to have a new volunteer in the office today. The former Scottish Green Leader and former trailblazing Green MSP, Robin Harper.
Welcome aboard Team Murray, Robin.
People saying that I should try internal processes, instead of suing the Green Party, are missing it.
I did all I could internally, and so many others were fighting as well to get my suspension overturned in time.
I was even able to get the decision reviewed at least twice. 1/2
Transphobes pointing out I'm kinda cringe is a reason I shouldn't be standing for local government is so funny to me.
Have they ever met a councillor?
You have to be a nerd obsessed with public administration to be good at the job.
Question to "gender criticals":
If you want to abolish gender, why do you hate non binary people so much?
Like we're literally trying to live outside all gender expectations, but you try to force us back into the sex we're assigned at birth.
How does this make sense to y'all?
To all trans people, put what you know is right for you on the census, the guidance is not legally binding anyway.
I'm putting female, even though I don't have a GRC.
This judgement will just make the data less consistent, so the only loss today is for statistics nerds like me.
I've been advised not to speak on what is happening currently as it relates to my employer.
I want to say though I'm completely devastated and I've literally cried myself to sleep.
We're supposed to believe in climate and social justice, I don't know what to say to my friends.
This is a section from the judgement Shahrar Ali v Green Party.
Are "Gender Criticals" goes to keep telling me that their beliefs are protected in political parties? When the judge said the opposite of that.
@LaurenLloyd40
To accept that, would mean trans people would be excluded completely from top jobs at organisations, because of people being transphobic towards them and no fault of their own.
I was always sceptical of the Cass Review, but now I've had time to digest it, it's methodology is wild and many of its conclusions are horrific.
Young trans people should be able to make their own decisions about their care, like young people are able to do in all other aspects
Believe it or not, I don't want to have arguments on my human rights and gender.
I just want to live my life and for every trans person to be able to do the same.
Fighting against discrimination isn't a choice or ideology, it's about survival for the oppressed.
So 18 months is how long I've been on a Gender Identity Clinic waiting list. The legal maximum waiting time for an NHS referral is set at 18 weeks.
Still have no idea how long until I get my first appointment, but safe to say it will be at least another 18 months.
I'm very not excited about the fee for the Gender Recognition Certificate process being cut to £5.
Not when that process demeans you in every way possible and gives no help to nonbinary or intersex people who don't want to be forced into a binary.
A reminder:
Sex segregation is not a part of feminism.
Women's rights at risk are things like abortion being criminalised.
Choosing who you share a public bathroom with is not a right.
Actual feminists support trans rights.
How come a national paper is interested in what dozens are doing in a party of 50k+ members?
How is a woman elected as co-chair of a women's group by women mean that we are losing representation?
I've always been a woman and no, I don't think we solve sexism that way.
Lastly:
Whatever is said about me, I'll still be speaking the truth.
Whatever is thrown at me, I'll still be fighting for what is right.
I'm not going anywhere, I'll always be trying to make the world a better place.
Whatever tomorrow brings, just know that.
You've harassed multiple trans people in the party. When I was co-chair of Green Party Women she misgendered me to my face, asked the other committee members if they thought I was female and said I shouldn't be there.
The party is a much safer place for everyone without her.
I have been expelled from the Green Party.
I am sure that this will cheer up the trans collective (they're not having a good time).
The complaint against me was from a high ranking party member and my expulsion is supposed to 'protect the reputation of the party' (horse bolted).
The
#StonewallOut
tag is ridiculous.
Stonewall said that children in nursery shouldn't be forced to conform to gendered stereotypes and GCs have twisted it to seem like they want to force two year olds to be trans.
More evidence of transphobia being incompatible with feminism.
Trans people, how did you decide on your name?
For me, I wanted to be called Kat at 6 after watching Casper. Also, cat was the first word I learnt to say.
I met someone with my middle name when I was 17 and wished that it was my name.
My surname is the city I feel at home in.
Before the close of nominations, I offered to settle, all I asked for was the party to let me be a candidate.
Bringing a case was the very last thing I wanted, but I can't let discrimination go unchallenged.
I hope more people will take transphobia seriously after this. 2/2
They are all active at various stages in the process. They all boil down to someone not liking me because I'm trans. It's absurd that people can harass me by abusing the system like this.
Some rights trans people need:
🔵 Access to gender affirming healthcare
🔴 Not having the constant fear of being harassed
⚪ Straightforward legal recognition
🔴 Using bathrooms without being told we're perverts for doing so
🔵 Not having to fight to exist

For the record Green Party Women are being disaffiliated for not holding their elections in accordance to their own constitution and the constitution of the Green Party.
I've raised the issue with GPW multiple times over the last two years, but they didn't want to listen to me.
I still believe that
@TheGreenParty
can deliver the best
It can be a force for good, but we need it to stop hurting its trans members
I want a party that trans people can call home without doubt
If you're able to contribute, please see my crowdfunder 👇🏽
The "Gender Critical" grift in legal cases:
- Pack a discrimination claim full of transphobic nonsense
- Raise £100k+ for legal costs from people who's been groomed into the GC high control group
- Win on a minor technical point winning a few thousand pounds
- claim victory
As I'm on my way to London Trans Pride seems like a good time.
I've realised I don't want to be gendered and was mainly using she/her pronouns so I wouldn't be gendered male.
That isn't a problem anymore with my transition, so my pronouns are fae/faer, as those feel good to me.
Something I've not been able to express until now, is how broken this year has made me felt.
My personal political philosophy, is very much based on eco-socialism and feminism.
Every time I've tried to focus on what I want to do, I'm dragged back into having to defend who I am.
Where does this trash idea come from that parents would use £30 on cigarettes and alcohol instead of feeding their children?
I think it goes without saying the vast majority of working class families take care of their kids first with whatever resources they have.
The removal of someone for expressing anti-trans views by a political party is allowable.
As long as there is a clear process that is followed and if anti-trans views is against party policy, which in the Green Party they very much are.
#IStandWithLesbians
because trans people are not actually at odds with lesbians.
The lesbians I've dated didn't give a second thought to me being trans.
I definitely wouldn't force a transphobic woman to date me, in fact, I don't even want to be around transphobic people.
All the polls have the Tories around 5% of the vote in Bristol Central, with Greens and Labour taking up 90% of the vote together and Green being ahead.
Don't be fooled by Labour lies, if you want
@carla_denyer
as your MP, vote Green!
London mayor
@SadiqKhan
was campaigning in Bristol Central today. "The two words nobody in Bristol must say on July 5 is 'if only'," Khan said. "'If only I hadn't taken the risk and voted Green to allow the Tories back in.'"
Keep getting questions about being ace and liking to have sex sometimes.
I see sex like bowling. It can be fun to do sometimes with 1 or more people, doing it with people you don't know so well isn't that fun and it can often be too much effort for the amount of fun you'll have.
The self proclaimed defender of women's rights in the Green Party is now arguing against Gillick competence, as well as staning for conversion therapy.
Needless to say this goes against Green Party policy and our philosophical basis. Why is he even a member?
Just realised, I can introduce myself as Kathryn Bristow as featured in the Daily Mail and Pink News now.
A little surreal being a freshly out trans woman a year ago to where I am now.
All the thanks to
@sianberry
and everyone else that has supported me.
Funnily enough one year ago today I had my first injection to stop my body making testosterone, a week before that I started taking estrogen.
Without a doubt gender affirming healthcare is life saving, we can't let bigots take it away from us.
Screw
#GenderCriticalComingOutDay
I was protesting the Posie Parker's transphobic rally in Bristol, I'm not going to let people make me feel bad for opposing fascism.
I fully expect complaints to be made to the Green Party. Nothing will come of it, it will just be another example of the hate campaign against me.
Just started crying for no particular reason.
It's so wonderful, I've always just wanted to be able to feel my emotions. I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more.
This is the start, there is more work to do, but we are going to work our hardest to see the trans community never again attacked by someone in
@TheGreenParty
It's not special for a trans person to be standing for Bristol City Council. Bristol is such an inclusive city where LGBTIQA+ people can be unapologetically ourselves.
One of my Green party colleagues who is nonbinary was first elected in 2015 and another was voted in 2021. 1/3
I can't believe I have to say this. Being autistic doesn't make you sexually assault people and it's not an excuse to.
I'm autistic and I know what consent is.
Being autistic is more likely to make you the victim of assault, it does NOT make you more likely to be a perpetrator.
I'm very proud to be speaking in the Trans Rights Protest at Downing Street next month.
I'm very excited that it will be alongside so many fantastic trans people.
Laura & I are honoured to announce 6 of our speakers for the Trans Rights Protest at Downing Street on 6th August
Fox Fisher, Rico Jacob Chace, Kathryn Bristow, Eric Sophia McAllister, Roz Kaveney and Kate Gee!
More info on each speaker in the next tweets:

I can't count the number of times that I've needed to steer my wheelchair into the road to get around cars on the pavement.
It makes getting around cities so much harder and dangerous for disabled people. So absolutely pavement parking should be banned.
Back on the "How is this person still in the Green Party?" tweets.
Shahrar Ali who's complaining about cancel culture, is the same person who, back when I worked for GenderGP last year, unsuccessful brought a motion against them, to try and get me kicked out of the party. 1/2
One of the most admirable qualities someone can show, is admitting when they've gotten something wrong, I wish more people did this instead of doubling down.
Before I came out I struggled with maintaining friendships. Now there's so many people who love me.
Being uncomfortable with my body caused me physical pain from my body being so tense. Now I can relax.
When I smile now I'm actually happy.

2 years ago to now
I understand people are upset at me for having emotions.
I was very emotionally numb before I started treatment because my previous hormone levels were wrong for me.
Changes in my testosterone and prolactin mean I can now cry easier. I don't think that's a bad thing to enjoy.
A reminder, trans healthcare in the UK is all messed up.
The NHS GICs has impossibly long waiting lists and every private service is run by cis people who just want to profit off the pain of trans people.
Especially bad for those who need T as getting it to self med is illegal.
What we saw in Bristol, is the same as we saw the BLM London protest in June and constantly in the US.
Protests are peaceful until the police start using heavy handed tactics, which then provokes riots.
Police can't be emboldened to keep using violence like this.
#KillTheBill
If I'm with a woman it's a queer relationship. If I'm with a man it's a queer relationship. If I'm with another nonbinary person it's somehow even more of a queer relationship. If I'm with multiple people, it's all very queer.
Literally all the party had to do was say, these things don't align with party policy, goodbye.
But instead they tied themselves in knots with a bad procedure that they didn't follow properly.
My take away from this is the party should be bolder and stop hiding behind process.
