I'm on Universal Credit. I work full-time at home as a writer, 30 hours a week. I'm a single mum to a 10 year old and a live-in carer to my elderly mother. Apparently I should also be "going out to work"? Who looks after my son (outside school hours) & mum then?
#universalcredit
Were you a child before the invention of Calpol? What did you have instead? When I was ill as a kid in the 1970s, I would sleep in my parents' bed and would be cured by a Chelsea bun and Lucozade.
Watched the first episode so far and really enjoyed it - candid, revealing, sweet...

I do wish their haters would just leave them alone. NO-ONE deserves the hate they get for being Royals. You should hate murderers or something, leave H&M alone.
When I was younger, I spent so much time worrying about what others thought of me. When I turned 50, I realised it doesn't matter. I'm not slim, but I'm kind. I'm not pretty, but I try to be a nice person. I'm nearly 54 & I plan to keep being me. Because being me isn't too bad.
Just out of interest, and not wanting to start any arguments...
Are you still wearing masks when you go inside shops?
I am, but I have found most people aren't now.
All those "Stop the boats" slogans. I just think "Why are they needing to escape? What from? What's so horrendous that they risk their lives & their families' lives on such a dangerous trip? What can we do to help them?"
I can't be the only person thinking like that, can I?
Anyone else love this

I loved the TV series too and recently bought the DVD. The girl who played Petrova is Tracey in EastEnders now.

I love all sorts - history, fiction, classics, forensics, thrillers, lots of individual authors. Over 100 books in my urgent TBR. Anyone else relate? Let's talk books! Please RT 📚 📖 xx
I have had a clear out of the twitter accounts I was following. Dumped a lot of political and celebrity accounts and added more lovely bookish people. I suspect my mental health will benefit from this! 💕
If anyone ever thinks I am stupid for loving reading

My Grandma Elsie is 102 and in a care home but perfectly with it. She used to be a dancer and loves watching

who is my fave too! Is she your oldest fan, Kelvin? X
Went into town with Dad, so he could see my book for sale in a bookshop! We bumped into my English teacher from 40 years ago, Mrs Wilks, who was an amazing influence. We had a hug & a chat & a few tears & I was so pleased I could tell her what a positive effect she had on me.
What a night! My 10 year old son was so upset about
#TheQueen
, he slept in my bed, he said "I am going to sleep with tears in my eyes." Then we had a cuddle & he was sobbing & sobbing.
He said "after all the times we said God save the Queen, but he didn't save her!" 💔
How lovely that the

I've started reading Elizabeth by
@GylesB1
- I'm a big fan of the

& read many Royal biographies, but this one is outstanding! Some seem a bit cold, slightly remote, but Gyles is right there with love & warmth. Reliving recent sad events through his words is very moving.
Visited my grandma today. She was 104 years old in July. Still doing pretty well. I gave her a cat I had sewn. She was a dressmaker so is thrilled I have taken up sewing.
@CFArtTherapy
Bloody hell, that's appalling!! I am so sorry to hear you're in that awful position. The Tories are completely heartless to do that to you.
Is brain fog due to bereavement a thing? Since my gran died last week, I can't seem to focus well, I don't know what day or month it is and I'm on autopilot. So sorry if I'm forgetting birthdays, messages, etc. It's not intentional. And thanks for all the kind words about Gran. x
Following on from my tweet about childhood medicine in the 1970s, this sums it up! Though we did have a doctor who came to the house with his black (or brown?) bag to see if we were okay.
Mum just read Where The Crawdads Sing. She is telling me how brilliant it was, so I am thinking maybe I should read it. Then she goes on to tell me a massive spoiler 🙄 😒 😑
Finally got to see my grandma, 3 days after her 105th birthday. She was so happy to see us and very chatty, saying how lucky she was to get so many cards and bouquets.
Just a little heads up. My grandma (who is 106) has gone into end-of-life care, so if I'm not around, this will be the reason. I'm hoping to still be here, as Twitter pals cheer me up, but just wanted to let you know.
Lovely to have so many new
#bookish
followers, lovely to meet you all. I'm hoping to finish my 70th book for 2021 today or tomorrow. This is the most I have read for years & I'm very happy because my TBR is out of control. Whether you read 10 books a year or 100, enjoy reading!
The carers sent a nice photo of my Gran today. She'd just had her hair done. Soon be time for another birthday, she'll be 105 in about 6 weeks! Woohoo!!!
If you want to read the

I can't really leave my mum alone. She nearly fell down the stairs the last time I took my son out. And I am being productive, have had these books out this year.

My grandma's books in my collection in the garage (some of my childhood ones on the right). I treasure these. She was born in 1917 so they are old and beautiful. She is still with us at 104 but in a care home, so couldn't take all her things. I got the books 📚

Nicest celeb - Robert Glenister, Katy Manning, Sally Geeson, Colin Baker, King Charles (then Prince), Robin Askwith, Louise Jameson
Rudest celebs I met - Lynda Baron, Barbara Windsor (I was a kid, she told me to f off), Little Nell, Matthew Kelly, Mike Holloway, Julian Glover
Yay,

is trending! I'm here for the books - reading them, writing them, buying them, reviewing them, discussing them and adding to my ever-growing TBR.
This is my grandma. Sadly we couldn't be there yesterday, because Mum has Covid. So pleased Gran had a lovely 105th birthday and we hope to see her at the weekend!
It was a privilege to meet Elsie today.
Elsie celebrated her 105th birthday and I said that I would put Elsie on all my social media accounts for the world to see how amazing she is. Elsie was very excited about this - please wish her a Happy 105th ❤️❤️❤️
I have my big exciting journey tomorrow - the first time I have been on a train alone for 25 years. I have a phobia of public transport & will be doing both bus & train journeys, eek! Will try to tweet my progress to urge me onwards to Liverpool & the gymnastics!!
My 106-year-old Gran has been ill with a chest infection. In bed since Thurs, not eating, not smiling. We were all very worried. Mum rang the care home to see how she was this morning. "She's out of bed, smiling and has eaten 2 rounds of toast!" Wow, she's a fighter, my gran!!
