Hello darkness, my old friend.
Tonight marked Seattle’s final 6-pm-or-later sunset of the year. The sun won’t set in the 6 o’clock hour again until March 5. 🧛♂️
Tonight marks Seattle’s final 9 pm sunset of the year. The sun won’t set in the 9 o’clock hour again until next June.
And so the slow crawl toward darkness begins! 🧛♂️
At 108 degrees, it was hotter today in Seattle than it’s ever been in :
New York City
Washington, D.C.
Atlanta
All-time high temperature in all of these cities is 106.
Live far away from Seattle and think 6 days of temps in the 90s is no big deal?
Think again & imagine enduring that with no air conditioning!
The Seattle metro is the least air-conditioned metro in the nation, with 56% of Seattle-area homes lacking A/C.
Tomorrow, Seattle stands a decent chance of hitting 80 degrees again.
In 128 years of weather records, we’ve never logged back-to-back 80-degree days in the month of October.
Seattle has only hit 100° three times in the past 100 years.
Pretty sobering to think we could hit 100° three times in the span of three days (Saturday-Monday).
This super massive cloud of smoke is likely headed our way tomorrow. Remember how bad it was earlier this week? Think that. Except the smoke isn't from new fires, but fires in Oregon and California.
Start preparing today.
