California’s second largest reservoir was down to its lowest levels ever recorded in September 2021 (628’). Incessant parades of atmospheric rivers have almost refilled the 3.5 million acre-foot reservoir by March 2023 (845’). Lake Oroville, CA recovered 217 FEET!

A signal is growing in the Pacific Basin that this wet & active pattern could persist into mid-March.
Even a potential for a couple atmospheric rivers is in the cards.

A season-saving storm cycle has now put our snowpack ABOVE NORMAL at 7.1" of Snow Water Equivalent (SWE). What a beautiful thing!

WATER SUPPLY: Utah's reservoirs entering March last year were at 50% capacity. This year we sit at 82%!
This is significant because this means more water will make it through to terminal basins like the Great Salt Lake!

The question of the century, sir. With spring runoff still to come, it’ll reach full pool easily. The bigger question is how can California do better at conservation and retention? Building more reservoirs to capture spring runoff could be a good idea 👍
NEXT STORM: Just when you thought it couldn't get crazier!
Monday-Tuesday storm looks colder and stronger. An early look at models reveals potential valley totals 3-6" and mountains 2-3 FEET. Cottonwoods will obviously top out in the 40" range! Stay tuned!
