Tournament poker greatly rewards players who can identify and adapt to the scenario in front of them. In the past two weeks I've seen so many people "bust themselves" by letting one unlucky hand stick in their mind and cloud their judgement for the rest of the day. 1/9

Professional poker players need to outperform other pros to succeed in the long term. The average pro stops at evaluating how the recs are playing. The best pros show up to compete regardless of who's at the table. So how do they generate edge if nobody is giving it away? (1/4)

@rampagepoker @wpt_global I won't guess at the intent of your post but I think this is a pretty bad look as an ambassador. It comes off like you're saying ACR has rigged rng games and WPT global has the safe games. There are actual security problems worth discussing in online poker and this isn't one

Study your boring hands! Most players review only hands that felt significant in the moment - tournament bust outs, biggest pots, and spots where they knew they were beat but called anyways. Approaching hand review in this way guarantees you to have strategic blind spots.

@PhilGalfond Wanting to win is good! I tell my students to prepare for losses financially, before taking their seat. Once you're in the chair, there's no longer a benefit from expecting to lose. If the pain of losing doesn't fade, there's likely unrelated emotional work to be done.

Your winrate depends on routine, fundamental decisions far more than it does on that one big pot you played poorly yesterday. Direct your focus away from these hands and towards all the small spots you're unsure of. The best players are experts at everything that's boring.

When good fortune falls in your lap, it's easy to lose your sense of discipline. Gamblers often reference this when they describe playing with house money, or freerolling, not appreciating the true value of their newly acquired funds. 6/9

Are you studying reactively or proactively? Most hand review happens by marking the biggest pots played and running them through a solver. I wrote more below about why I feel this is the wrong approach.

Are you reviewing the hands you win just as critically as the hands you lose? Deep in the @ARIAPoker $3.5k Championship I won a preflop all-in setting me up for an eventual 15th place finish, but in the video below I discuss the psychological error that I could have avoided. 1/3

$2100 HU SCOOP today. These events are the only reason I haven't lost my bankroll playing MTTs yet. Was hoping to stream but I'll record for a future @RunItOnce video as I fire away at everything else. Have to admit the online tournament grind is pretty addicting...

I begin work for all of my private students with an evaluation. There is no prescribed starting point - we determine the necessary path to their end goal together. Is the path towards your next goal in poker clear? What are you trying to improve at, but you aren't sure how?

I've always felt there's more value in playing your strategy well, than there is value in choosing the best strategy. If restricting your bet sizing leads to more confident execution, there's a good chance you're adding EV by removing options.

New video @RunItOnce is the start of my high stakes cash series featuring both $50/$100 NL heads up and $25/$50 NL 6max. Check it out and join me in the comment section - I am always happy to engage in strategy discussion and I've often learned from my own comment threads.
