Today will be former student Peter Whittingham's memorial in Cardiff. Followed by a friendly football match between Cardiff FC and Aston Villa. Our students will be the ball boys and girls for the match, in honour of Peter's time here at King Henry's.

It is with great sorrow and respect that King Henry VIII School marks the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We join the nation and the world in recognising her extraordinary commitment to service over the past 70 years. Our sincere condolences to her family.
Year 13 students received very good results this morning. With the majority of our students achieving grades, which will allow them to move onto their first choice university.
They are a superb group of students and we are very proud of all of their accomplishments.

King Henry VIII School was all but destroyed in the blitz of 1941, but survived due to the spirit and determination of it's community. Today we see those same virtues displayed in abundance in Ukraine and we light our School in yellow and blue in support of their people.

Delighted to announce that Maja & Felix are Oxbridge bound. Maja joined us with a bursary and an academic scholarship has an offer to study Law at Girton College (Cambridge). Felix, Head Boy and double academic scholar, has an offer to study Physics at Brasenose College (Oxford).
Robin, in our Lower Sixth, has been selected to join Worcester Warriors Centre of Excellence. She played her first game for Warriors U18s on Saturday against Gloucester Hartbury, scoring two break away tries on the wing & setting up another with a jackle on the Gloucester 22.

King Henry VIII pupils, parents and staff are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results this morning. Nearly 30% of grades were 9s and 51% of all grades 8s and 9s. An outstanding achievement, we couldn't be more proud.

Zhanè has been selected to represent Coventry City in the International children’s games, where she will play for their girls' football team in Mexico City in July.
She went through a competitive trial process - we wish her all the best, and cannot wait to hear all about it!
At lunch the Burgess Hall was abuzz with stands offering tastes of different cultural foods and even a lesson in how to put on a sari. The highlight of the lunch was the catwalk show with many students participating and enjoying the limelight for a few seconds.

Coventry Station has just got even closer to BKHS King Henry VIII. Platforms and the bus interchange can now be accessed from the same side of Warwick Road as the school. This offers an extremely convenient and safe option for students coming from a wide area of the Midlands.
Year 8 this week were learning about the Greek poet Sappho who wrote a love poem to her girlfriend using the image of Helen of Troy. They then had to rewrite the poem about what they loved.
