I am extremely uneasy having a high risk over my house and seeing people licking their lips over this event. Choose words carefully today and think of the actual people who live in these storms’ paths.
this is beyond incredibly dangerous on a day where we will use this account to try and distribute life saving information to the public

this is absurd. FSU will not require vaccines and we are returning to normal, but if you live on campus and test positive, you are effectively evicted and provided with no shelter.
Not every student or family has the means to suddenly return home or buy a hotel room…
This is not my video, but this is my problem. When these students go out into the
#Tallahassee
community, be it a grocery store, restaurant, or a park, they will be spreading the virus. My fellow FSU students: STOP DOING STUFF LIKE THIS. TALLAHASSEE IS NOT A PLAYGROUND.
Watching people “root” for a moderate or high severe weather risk over my hometown is rather gross. The southeast is much more densely populated than the plains, and having lived through 4/27/11, I don’t appreciate the implications of wishing for destruction.
#Pride
Month is an opportunity to celebrate each other with mutual love and respect. The diversity of the NWS family, including those in the LGBTQ+ community, bring the vital skills and perspectives that allow us to meet our mission of protecting a diverse nation.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people looking for
@FSUHoops
tickets before a game. The atmosphere in the Tuck looks to be insane tonight
@NoleZoneFSU
one of my classmates literally passed away this weekend. how dare these selfish people pack into a crowded nightclub in the same community where students and locals are dying! I am at a loss for words.
and as the Eppes statue gets removed, Fox News publishes an article about FSU SGA that conveniently fails to mention that LGBTQ+ students were called “grave evils” by the sitting senate president.
officially graduated from unc with my master’s degree in geography and a certificate in natural hazards resiliency this past weekend!
up next: full time meteorologist @ NWS [location publicly redacted until paperwork is finalised]
Announcement!!
Incredibly excited to be starting my NWS career as a pathways intern
@NWSIndianapolis
this summer! Then, I will head to
@geographyunc
in the fall to work in the
@SERCC
on Southeastern tornadoes for a master’s in geography!
Now back to this synoptic studying…
Let us Reflect, Empower and Unite together this
#Pride
Month as we celebrate the diversity of the NWS family! Their skills and perspectives allow us to meet our mission of protecting a diverse nation.
Synoptic II grades just posted, and I’M OFFICIALLY A METEOROLOGIST
Forever grateful for my Florida State foundations, let’s put them to work up at NWS Indy here in a few weeks 🥳
pet peeve: people referring to meteorological set ups that could favor high impact weather as “beautiful” or “amazing.”
there is nothing pretty about someone potentially losing their life or their property.
let’s watch our tone as we enter what should be an active week.
It is imperative that we as students come together to ensure that we are united for our institution and for the Tallahassee community.
Stand with us and take the pledge:
#PledgeTLH
the fact that we as a country do not require tornado shelters in multistory apartment buildings that are built like houses of cards is eventually going to get people seriously hurt. it is willful negligence in the name of cost avoidance.
Posting simulated IR with dystopian sounding Blade Runner 2049 and a glitching “Potential Category 5” caption is not meteorology. It is not science communication. It’s fear mongering.
Perhaps trying to “gotcha” a National Weather Service office with degreed professionals is not the best course of action given that
1) you will probably apply for a NWS job at some point
2) your RadarScope screenshot is not equivalent to their network of spotters and equipment
please have empathy for the person behind the warning desk when you are discussing past warnings.
It’s easy to look back from a neutral environment without any of the ops floor stressors and point fingers; it is not easy to sit in the warning chair and make these decisions.
Incredibly honored to represent
@geographyunc
at the UNC Chancellor’s Awards yesterday, where I received the 2023 Student Undergraduate Teaching Award. I loved helping students learn about the weather, and can’t wait to do it all again next fall!
physically, I am safe.
mentally, today’s events are going to take time to unpack.
I cannot believe I just went through the campus shooting that will be featured on today’s nightly news. It was only the 6th day of classes, and now the fresh start to the semester is gone
#UNC
1) thank god everyone at OU is okay tonight.
2) this is still a traumatic experience and your reactions and coping to it is still valid. If any of my OU met friends or Norman contacts need to unpack their thoughts, my dms and my ears are open ❤️🤍
It’s not everyday you spot a pyrocumulus cloud! So I pulled over and snapped a pic!
@NWSTallahassee
this was taken 20 miles west of Bainbridge on Highway 84.
Meanwhile at FSU, minority students are systemically discriminated against because of the people in the FSU community who are celebrating this tweet. I will never understand why football championships are celebrated more than civil rights in this country.
I am FURIOUS. This is from an
#FSU
parent on Reddit. Our students are testing positive and being left hanging. I tried to speak up, but nothing was done.
Dear WxTwitter: Please keep the victims in mind as you look at the historic tornadoes ongoing tonight.
Empathy should always be emphasized during disasters, real people are affected.
Idk who needs to hear this but if you can repost David Dobrik in hopes of winning a Tesla you can also repost things about BLM, LGBTQ+ rights, protecting immigrants, and other good causes.
These comments about female
@FSUWeather
STUDENT meteorologists are absolutely disgusting. My female colleagues should not have to deal with this harassment in their workplace, especially when they are just students.
so attendance at football games is feasible, you won’t reprimand students for clubbing and tailgating, and you got rid of size limits on in person gatherings BUT you cancel an event people have been working for their entire lives?!? make it make sense.
Florida State University will hold a virtual commencement ceremony for its fall graduates Friday, Dec. 11.
President John Thrasher will preside over the ceremony, which will be streamed on the university’s website, Facebook and YouTube channels.
yesterday was my last full time day at NWS IND, and I have the cake to prove it! I love this team dearly, and can’t wait to come back to much different conditions come December 🥶
Okay folks, due to some ~technical difficulties ~, I will be posting my

poster based on my NOAA Hollings Research with

here on the Bird App. Happy to chat with anyone via DMs about this work!
New:
@FBI
now reports in a bulletin "Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the US Capitol from 17 January through 20 January,”
@AaronKatersky
reports.
working my first severe weather event (social media and weather stories) confirmed that I am absolutely in the correct field, and I am loving what I am doing.
feeling super satisfied right now :)
Woosh! Just like that, our Summer Pathways Interns are headed back to college. If you liked the fun graphics this summer, Mallory and Jonathan were the creative force behind them. Don't worry -- the Dynamic Duo will be back in action soon!

it costs exactly $0 to not be transphobic, by the way.
two things can coexist, without degrading the value of one another.
sending love to the trans community within the weather enterprise 🤍
I am absolutely ECSTATIC to announce that I have been elected FSU SGA Senate College of Arts and Sciences Seat 11 with
@Progress_FSU
! Excited to get to work and bring bold, progressive plans to the senate floor!
About a year ago,
@dilemmily
approached me about a lack of resources for student parents and faculty members with young children.
So, I fought for SGA funding to install changing tables and lactation rooms across campus.
Proud to say that today, 30+ opened on FSU’s campus!
As many of my Florida State friends know, an FSU student was hit and tragically killed in the pedestrian crosswalk near my apartment complex I live in. A pedestrian bridge/tunnel on this end of Tennessee street makes sense, now let’s make it happen.
the student body president, pictured on the right at a busy club, is the person FSU is using to advertise covid resiliency... but don’t forget to

As

students and faculty persevered during tough times, in our latest issue of Spectrum:
@NWSMiami
these were sent from a friend down in the Coral Lakes Neighborhood of Miami… also sent pictures of shingles and awnings blown all over the street.
in the past 30 minutes this troll has called my family obese and me lonely. I live a pretty awesome life caring about other people’s well-being. I see you’re masking your identity digitally. I hope you mask your face in real life. Good night.
Yes, the damage across Mississippi is immense last night. Yes, sharing these posts can raise awareness for mutual aid and relief/recovery efforts.
No, you and your friends do not need to drive to the afflicted communities and film your own content for disaster porn likes
we have stripped the humanity out of these student athletes to the point where they are actively WISHING their injuries happened earlier in the season.
this is a team sport, and the 2023 Florida State team is a damn good one. with leaders like JT on and off the field, we belong.
devastated. heartbroken. In so much disbelief rn, I wish my leg broke earlier in the season so y’all could see this team is much more than the quarterback. I thought results matter. 13-0 and this roster matches up across any team in those top 4 rankings. I am so sorry. Go Noles!
If anything, the younger generations of our field are more prepared for the ever changing nature of our work due to the circumstances of the world we grew up in and learned in.
we are adaptable, educated, and equally qualified to do this work, so miss me with this narrative
if you have access to NWS Insider, you should totally check out the article that came out today about the Build-A-TAF board we put together for aviation outreach :)
I just think it’s really funny how members of the executive branch of
@FSUSGA
are promoting going out and clubbing while COVID-19 cases are spiking. We can sign the
#pledgetlh
but this advocates for the spread of the virus and does nothing to help Tallahassee and FSU students.
My heart aches for all of the students who aren’t going to get the networking opportunities of a fully in-person AMS Annual Meeting during their undergrad years.
This was an incredibly tough decision to make, but it is in the best interest of public health.
the grade school explanation of free speech teaches us that we cannot yell fire in a crowded theatre.
it appears that the billionaire powers at be now want us to pay money to be able to hear the fire alarm go off.

had a great first day @ NWS RAH for my latest pathways adventure! grateful for both of my offices for allowing me to continue to gain experience while enrolled in classes.
aside — I suppose it’s only appropriate that it decided to pour as my H shift ended today haha
Calling all FSU alumni — if you cherished your time here and got thrown into Westcott fountain on your 21st birthday, we current students have now been banned from doing so.
The only way to preserve this non problematic tradition is to express our frustration.
Once again: members of the BIPOC in STEM, Women in STEM, and LGBT in STEM are the only people who get to define discriminatio, which has absolutely no place in the field of meteorology in 2020. I am proud to stand with
@wx_taylor
and so many more rising, diverse meteorologists
If your response to a creepy old man saying “weather or a pantyhose commercial? I prefer the latter” to a female meteorologist is “it’s good to have thick skin,” try again.
It is 2021. We must the root of this problem instead: Men need to stop sexualizing women in STEM.
@JonathanMMarcus
@FSUWeather
Stupid for someone to make such comments, but with that said if you're in meteorology at any level it's good to have a think skin, didn't see the picture but many women in broadcast meteorology do not dress professionally at all just check out The Weather Channel.
This is going to raise questions as to why a cisgender individual should put their pronouns in their bio. It’s simple: to normalize it. We shouldn’t isolate individuals who want to specify pronouns, as they are marginalized enough. Reduce the size of the target on their backs.
First semester of grad school is in the books! While there was a whole lot of writing and coding on my end of things, TA-ing the intro weather class was truly my favorite experience. It’s emails like this that make the work worth it 🥳
unc administration will let white Christian nationalists sit in the pit and yell at students calling them “grave evils” and abominations as they simply walk to class, but a peaceful protest was met with arrests.
shame.
