Alright, it's time to save Lylat. In the clip from @PracticalTAS where Fox is made to clip clean through the bottom of Lylat, you can see that he went straight through the vertices of the collision. It's very likely that it's possible to slip through stages if you pass a vertex.

I want to have a quick say on the Steve discourse. Ignoring my ban opinion, something that’s important, is that if Steve is to be banned, it has to be on the merits that’s he’s overpowered, and NOT because he can do lots of things that break the established rules of the game.

People seem to be so quick to put down the inability to run through opponents in Ultimate; why is that? Like okay you can't run thru for a pivot grab but the opponent can't go thru you to escape the corner once you got them there. It's not a BAD mechanic, it's just *different*.

I'm using this more for a PSA than talking crap, but guys PLEASE use SDI on Steve's combos, and unless you're like, Fox or Roy, SDI AWAY from him at all times. You don't need to tap a direction repeatedly to SDI, btw. Wiggling the stick between Up + Away and Down + Away is-

So an idea I thought might be interesting for Ultimate, would be the concept of “whiff-lag” on aerial landing lag. Basically if you throw out an aerial and don’t make contact at all, even with a shield, bam extra frames if you go through landing lag.

The concern I’m bringing up relates to how the background functions on NC. Players with photosensitivity issues have been reporting problems of being unable to see the game properly when the stage’s background is in certain phases.

With all that said, I’d lime to propose a potential solution On NC, when a match is being played with Stage Hazards Off, the background should remain static, without it progressing through its animation sequence. Essentially, the stage would always look like the image below.

Specifically: - Red-green colorblind players have reported being unable to clearly see red/brown-colored elements while the background is descending through the dark-green cave. - Players with motion sickness have problems looking at the game during the cave-escape sequence.

I might get some looks for this, but Wii Fit matches up very well into Steve. She has the speed and the thin frame to help her stay outside of Steve’s burst range and minecart/anvil. She has extremely high damage on relatively fast moves to break even stone blocks very quickly.

When the Sephiroth Fighters Pass released, we were given a new stage in Northern Cave (NC). The stage clearly had developer intent of being designed for competitive matches (pictured below) and most community members agree that the layout of the stage is suitable for competition.

Bottom line: ATM, it appears possible to pass through ANY stage by going through a vertex. The first clip of Fox going through Lylat very likely wasn't the fault of Lylat, but rather the game's engine itself. Because of this, Lylat should remain legal in all future rulesets.

So apparently this concept already exists in RoA, though a bit in reverse. You have your landing lag, and then you just get *even less* or none at all if you managed to hit the opponent. They call it hit-cancelling instead of whiff-lag lmfao Nice idea 👍

Ordinarily, this wouldn’t be a problem, as a casual player could simply choose not to play on NC if they suffer from visual impairments. But in competitions, where stages are chosen repeatedly from a small group, having a stage with these kinds of visual problems is an issue.

This would be similar in function to how the Skyloft stage works with Stage Hazards Off, where its background doesn’t move either. With this, the competitive community would be able to use Northern Cave without needing to worry about accessibility for their players.

@GreshGANG Just to pile onto this, there was also the absolute travesty that were the unreactable rolls and ESPECIALLY airdodges. People also like to complain about Ult platforms having superglue on them, but (with the exception of shield drop), 4's platforms functioned the exact same way.

Steve is a problem because he gives the opponent a huge mental stack, all of his moves are safe, do 15+ damage, and start combos, and his killpower is obscene. Do I personally think Steve is banworthy? I’m not sure, but if he is, make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons.

Miya didn’t have boosted 9 odds in this set, as a PSA. There was a video recently made about this, I believe by PkBeats. The short version is GnW only gets 50% odds on a 9 if he has half (or less) of the stocks of his opponent, and in the last 5 seconds of the match only.

Imagine, as an extreme example, if all of Steve’s moves did Sheik levels of damage and knockback, or if Ganon had access to blocks (this would rule, btw). Literally no one would mind. This is all literally a question of parameters.

@doremypuyotet For the less initiated on Tetris, there are three things going on here: - Combos allow you to send progressively more garbage with each consecutive line clear, going all the way to 4+ for each line at just 9 consecutive clears. That's like making a Tetris for each single line.

People made the argument in Sm4sh that Bayonetta should be banned because she played like Bayonetta, and no other character was capable of that. Like, no. She was banworthy because she was overpowered. She does the same thing in Ult and everyone’s (mostly) fine with her.
