A league source has confirmed the rumor from Europe that Bruno Wilson, a 6'4" center back from FC Vizela in the Portuguese top tier, is expected to join #Quakes74 in the coming days. Final details are being worked on. Wilson has played 1600 minutes this season for Vizela.

Say what you want about how Almeyda improved #Quakes74 over 2018, but that was a low bar. He’s also now overseen one of the biggest collapses in MLS history. His subs snatched losses from wins and draws and his two ejections changed the tone for the worse. Buyer beware, @Rayados .

#MLS announces that #RBNY forward Dante Vanzeir has been issued a six-game ban & issued an undisclosed fine for use of racist language against #Quakes74 . Ban is for league games but Vanzeir can’t play in any other games either while ban is in effect, so no Open Cup, etc.

Your experiential, mental version of goal scoring chances is not more accurate than machine learning models looking at hundreds of thousands of shots. An 0.5 xG shot or better only happens 3.4% of the time. An 0.75+ xG only 1.7%. That shot you think is “easy” very rarely is.

Just to point out MLS injury rules that keep a player on the sideline are *not in effect* in Leagues Cup. The referees in this one have serious questions to answer as it ended up costing #Quakes74 a point last night.

CONCACAF SPECIAL at Levi's. The referee REFUSES to let Rodrigues back on the field for TWO FULL MINUTES -- pure pettiness because Rodrigues had gone down easily and referee wasn't having it. While he's waiting on sideline, Chivas score a last-second equalizer.

Gerhard Struber had the information, didn't ask Vanzeir, was told to remove his player by Luchi, and didn't do it. This is not an acceptable statement from him as it continues to deflect his actions. Management training in harassment minimally should be required. #Quakes74 #RBNY

Been doing some analysis on counters in MLS and created a simple method (poss 3-20 sec, 25+ yds and 3+ yd/sec) for analyzing when attacks were thwarted or end in a shot. I have a high correlation between counters stopped % and xG conceded/attempt. #RSL , man. #Quakes74 #NYCFC

I never had the chance to meet Grant Wahl, but every interaction he had within US Soccer culture demonstrated that he was the absolute best of our community. He was brave enough to travel to this World Cup and call out the injustice he saw. RIP Grant. Love to his family.

A league source confirmed to me Pellegrino was on his way to San Jose. Physical and final paperwork ought to be done this week. We'll see how much time he gets with the team at Coachella as the #Quakes74 kick off on Wed for the first of three preseason games there.

END OF AN ERA. Amahl Pellegrino's 2.5 years at Bodø/Glimt has come to an end. The 33 year old has set off on his journey to America to play with San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS, and was met at Bodø airport by fans wanting to say goodbye. Pellegrino was in tears as he said
