The best social founders I know rarely give concrete advice on ideas. “Maybe.” “It’s worth exploring.” “I have no clue.” Be cautious of people who give consumer advice in absolutes. Human nature is too fickle to encapsulate in a set of rules.

Social consumer is probably the only startup space where you *shouldn’t* have a long term vision. It unnecessarily constrains your thinking as you build. Instead, build fun side projects and respond when users do (or don’t).

In 2024, a replicable seeding process is just as important as a replicable development process. Find ways to reliably get those first 10,000 users (having an army of Discord TikTokers, Instagram pages, some reproducible TikTok strategy, etc) so you can kill ideas faster.

A lot of building in social consumer isn’t about the actual idea, but consumer motivations — you can build an event planning platform built around lightweight distribution or event discovery, and they’ll perform entirely different.
