This is incorrect, of those 1400 children in Rotherham only 10/15% were from unstable families the rest were living in homes where parents actively did what they could 2 protect their children, 1 father rang the police 200 times “donotchangethenarrativetofittheagenda”

I often say that a stable family unit is the finest safety net known to humankind - the grooming gangs crisis demonstrates this. Lack of family-based belonging, little to no parental attentiveness. Children ending up in the care system notably more at risk of group-based CSE.

Why when we believe a child is been groomed/ involved in abuse do we have 2 wait for that child 2 tell us what is happening 2 them before actions R taken ? yet if we believe someone is drug dealing we don’t have 2 wait for those that are buying the drugs to tell us anything ?

In towns like Telford, police dismissed victims of CSE as “troublemakers” and “white sl*gs”. They shamed and intimidated little girls into silence, accusing them of lying or even *wanting* to be raped. They stood by and did nothing while young girls were being brutally abused.

Blind spot in our conversation is how family breakdown and the atomisation of communities have contributed towards Britain's grooming gangs crisis. Many of the sexually exploited white working-class girls came from troubled and dysfunctional backgrounds. No sense of belonging.
