Mets are interested in multiyear deal with Zack Wheeler, who will decline $17.8M qualifying offer. If they can’t get Wheeler they will consider trades and other free agents to acquire a starter. Last alternative would be to move Lugo or Gsellman into rotation.

Mets lost 2 of 3 to the Nats when they weren't facing Scherzer or Strasburg. They got swept by Miami, who was on a 1962 Mets pace. They swept the Nats while facing Corbin, Scherzer & Strasbrug. Now they're losing 4-0 to the Tigers, who have lost 8 straight. This all makes sense.
