Sometimes I forget that not everyone was raised on a picket line and the lack of respect for basic strike etiquette on twitter is astounding to me. Y’all. Let’s have a quick lesson. 1. No crossing picket lines. Ever. This is the action the striking union has picked. Respect it.

2. Equally important: NO INVENTING NEW PICKET LINES. The union is better situated than you to decide what action is most likely to be effective. No one is asking you to avoid streaming networks or not see movies in theatres. In fact, doing so will undermine the strike.

When my mom was diagnosed with cancer, we learned her hospital chemo treatments cost $30,000 per vial. 2-3 vials per visit, 6 visits. Not including surgery and radiation. She admitted that if we lived in the US, she would have died rather than run up that debt. Taxes are good.

I'm generally opposed to sentencing teenagers as adults but it seems especially cruel to do so to 14-year-olds. They committed a heinous crime, absolutely. But they are children! They desperately need help. Putting kids in prison for the rest of their lives won't fix anything.

Hearing that @SaltWireNews is gonna charge people to view obituaries? Praying that isn't true, because it's one of the cruelest things I can imagine. Charging for news, absolutely. But come ON. Let people grieve and remember their loved ones without having to cough up cash.

YEP. It’s not just that straw bans and meatless Mondays are ineffective. It’s actively harmful to focus on and encourage people to take action that doesn’t fix the problem. It discourages them from looking at the actions that actually CAN.

I’m glad people are recognizing the red flags in the Ballerina Farm article but I need those of you saying “why doesn’t she leave?” try to imagine how you flee a billionaire who controls your finances, keeps you on a rural farm, and has unlimited resources to fight for custody.

I would like to once again suggest we try an actual lockdown, one where we pay people to stay home if needed, instead of assuming capitalism is immune to the virus despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

Exposure notifications are scary - there’s no doubt. But they’re also a sign of great contact tracing and epidemiology at work. In April, we didn’t have exposure notifications like this because we didn’t know yet! Now we do. That’s ultimately a good thing.
