Some job news - later this month I will be departing
@SkySportsNews
to become a sports journalism lecturer at
@UniNorthants
!
I’m very excited and honoured to have been given this opportunity and can’t wait to get started
Just had a stroll down the Kettering Road where the proposed, er, gathering site for this evening is. Shopkeepers seem in great spirits, helping each other board up their windows etc. People from all backgrounds working as one community. Oh and these have been put up
Sasha Banks in full Boss mode on WWE phono tonight. Guy asks if it was a dream match for her to fight Ronda Rousey:
“Nah. It was a dream match for her to fight me though.”
Two years ago the Cobblers absolutely strolled L2. Two years ago! The Wilder team barely needed to be touched, instead it was destroyed.
An absolute disgrace.
Part of me does feel a bit bad for the Peterborough fans. They’ve sold all of those players for an extraordinary amount of money and they’re still only in the same level as the Cobblers - and losing to them
Today is my final day as a full-time sports journalist with
@SkySports
. It's been an enjoyable and varied six years with the company and I'd like to thank all of the great people I have worked with and who have helped me during that time.
Onto the next challenge!
@UniNorthants
First WWE event was WrestleMania VI, taped for me and my brother by our (more affluent) neighbours who had Sky. Never dreamt I’d be part of the Sky coverage of it but it was an absolute honour and there have been some great times over the past two years
I have now filed my final piece of content as WWE Editor for Sky Sports (the wedding!) and so ends a great two years for me on a personal and professional level. Peaked at the start when I interviewed my favourite wrestler of all time and there have been some other biggies too...
Very much enjoyed the major geekfest that was our interview with
@WWEEmberMoon
yesterday and learning she has an Arya Stark-style list
(Spoiler: Asuka is top of it)
31 years ago today:
England, New Order and the release of one of the all-time great football anthems.
“You’ve got to hold and give,
But do it at the right time...”
On this day in 2013: Wembley reporting duty for the league two play-off final between Northampton Town and Bradford City. And then the game kicked off and everything went horribly, horribly wrong
Great to be back at the old place for a very productive meeting - setting up a very exciting series of sports reporting opportunities for our students at
@UniNorthants
RIP Jack Charlton.
Here’s a great article where he talks about how the 1986/87 Northampton Town team provided him with the tactical template for Ireland:
James Collins and John Marquis being named in the PFA League One team of the year is one of the biggest “here’s what you could’ve won” ever for NTFC fans
Today marks 18 years in journalism for me. It’s been a glorious adventure which has taken me to New York, Toronto and Fleetwood. I wonder what the next 18 years will bring in this rapidly-changing business...
Finally, freshers’ week is here at
@UniNorthants
! And after we set a new record for percentage of female students on our Sports Journalism degree course last year I am delighted to confirm we have broken that record again this year
"Delighted to finally get this over the line and can't wait to give it 110 per cent when the season kicks off. I know a few of the lads at the club already and it's a great bunch in that dressing room"
Bit of a transfer coup for our Multimedia Sports Journalism team. Welcome to new lecturer
@JeffersonLake
who has joined
@UniNorthants
from Sky Sports. 👌
