A little bus parade for our dear friend and education advocate, former Board Member, LEAF Trustee and rock star PTO mom. Thank you
@Redmom2four

Our animals will be transferred to their summer home (an awesome local farm) or spending some time with host families ( students). Please don’t worry they are all safe and well loved.

LHS Track and Field Project passed. Time to start digging and moving this forward. Happy that our students and community will be getting the opportunity to use a quality facility. Thank you Ledyard
Get ready Ledyard. Monday at 2:30 the Gallup Hill and Gales Ferry/Juliet Long School teams will cruise through their students’ neighborhoods to wave and show some love to our students. The map and some more details have been emailed to parents.
Our community has talked about a new track and field for almost 20 years. We’re so close, turf starts going down in a few days. Ledyard has a strong tradition of excellence in everything we do and I’m proud that our students will have an amazing track and field.
As stressful as it’s been managing aspects of this crisis, it pales in comparison to the stress from the conversation I just had with my 84 yo mom. She’s furious about baseball and church being cancelled and won’t listen to me about social distancing.
Too many power line and tree issues for our buses to safely navigate town roads. Ledyard Public Schools will be closed today. While the pavement will most likely be clear by mid morning the tree and line issues will be a multiple day challenge for our town
The upcoming storm is tricky for our part of CT. Please don’t expect a decision about Wed until 530 Wed AM. I’ll be up at 330am gathering data so I can make the best call possible.
Our food service team is rocking as they prepared meals for students. Pickup is curb side at Ledyard High School. Thank you Chef Nizam and the Chartwells Team.
Ledyard families. I promise we are working night and day to quickly stand up more robust and engaged learning for your students. Look for communication about next stage in the near future. This is no small task but our team is taking it head on.
The governor has declared a state of emergency. That gives him legal authority to take many actions to combat COVID19. That said, no guidance has been provided that changes our course of action so far. I will update the community as soon as I have more information.
Ledyard Rotary visiting the amazing Mitzi’s Coffee and Crepes on Rt 12. Awesome coffee and food. Thank you Doug and Mitzi for hosting us and this great addition to our community

Don’t worry next week’s forecast is just a cruel practical joke. It’s not funny to talk about snow at this point. Oh, and I won’t be able to make a call on school just yet 😬
As much as I’d like to sleep in, Ledyard will announce in the am when we can see what actually hits/sticks. I’m seeing forecasted temps in the mid-30s after 2 am. I’ll be assessing the situation 0400 and our crews will be in early.
So eggs are in short supply in my Mom’s area. I’m making an egg run to Mass so she doesn’t go out to a dozen stores looking. Dropping them off and running away bc she will be “mad” I came up and didn’t go inside. At some point she may realize she’s 84 and vulnerable
Typo “publoc” on my 452AM post for the snow day. I saw it and deleted in a flash. In that split second someone took a screen shot and posted on the Forum. Talk about dedicated followers.
Decision made this evening by Ledyard BOE to start the school year in a hybrid model. Additional information and surveys to families will be forthcoming. Wondering about our plan? Please check out
Ledyard Public Schools will close indefinitely starting at 2100hrs. Closure will be for a minimum of 2 weeks. Updates will be sent via emergency system and posted at
Proud to be the new President of the Ledyard Rotary Club. Special thanks to outgoing President Mike Chin. Big shoes to fill but I know he’ll be right there with me.

Based on the news reports and tweets from CSDE it seems the Governor has closed CT schools until May 20. Ledyard will continue to adapt and operate in this new enviroment for learning.
The weather outlook still seems to be changing. I would strongly advise you do your homework for tomorrow. I’ll be up at 3:30 AM surveying the situation and will make the decision on school in the early am
On a break from social media but still wanted to let you all know that tomorrow, Monday, Feb 1 is a SNOW DAY. District wide communication will be sent shortly.
Class of 2020, please do not stress about graduation or senior activities. It’s a long way away and I hope we won’t have to make any modifications. I want this to be a special time for you and we will do everything we can to make it so. Except this Friday, come to school 😎
Week one in the books for our Continuity of Learning efforts. The Ledyard team rocked it! Student engagement was high and feedback positive. Amazing teamwork and collaboration.
CT Departement of Health is reporting 7 day rolling ave of 1.6 cases per 100,000 people in NL County. One of the lowest transmission rates in the state.
And so the end of another amazing school year is here. We’re going to miss all the smiling faces in our schools and look forward to everyone returning in August. Have a wonderful summer.
Ledyard will have a 2 hr delay. Please drive safe. While it’s warming outside, Police and Public Works officials report it’s quite slick and slushy, especially at intersections.
Ledyard Public Schools will open with a 2 HR delay today. Thank you to our facility team for working so hard to make sure our schools are ready for students today.
Gallup Hill and Ledyard Middle School will be ready for our scheduled opening August 30th. Some spaces may be turned over later but that was always the plan. Get ready for school to open, we’ll be ready to go.

In addition to washing your hands and other self-care, might I recommend not going grocery shopping when you didn’t get lunch. Lots of unhealthy choices have made it into my home
Yes, it’s a tricky weather pattern for tomorrow. No, I’m not able to make a call on the situation this evening. If I make a decision that impacts school tomorrow I promise it will be by 5:15 am.
Superintendents have a 5 pm with the Commissioner and will hopefully get more guidance regarding the comment by the Governor about the length of the school closure.
E-cigs/vaping/Juul whatever the delivery method introduces nicotine and other poisons into your body. Come on, we fought for decades against big tobacco poisoning our children, now they have mango and other flavored poisons to lure children into a lifetime of nicotine addiction
Reflecting on a great week. Saw some amazing instruction, students engaged in their learning and received a Friday surprise. Found out LMS received an awesome award for their Unified Sports program.

Tons of questions about tomorrow’s storm but it looks like it roads will be fine till later in the day/evening. Following this one closely... sleep is overrated anyway
Happy Mother’s Day to all. I’m lucky to have a rockstar, superhero mom. Raised 3 boys by herself and we weren’t easy. We missed opening day this year but already looking forward to next year.
Don’t read this selectively: We’re still required to consult with public health for decisions on closures. Just because there is now a 180 day waiver doesn’t mean we act in an irresponsible manner, either way. We have a lot to do in school, but not at the risk of our health.
