What a historic day in Maryland. Less than one hundred years since the election of Mary Risteau as the first woman in the House, Adrienne Jones was elected Speaker of the House - the first woman and first African American Speaker in Maryland’s history.

Today the Board of State Canvassers certified the 2024 Primary Election. I was last one to sign to make it 100% official. When I signed, I thought of all of the struggles for universal suffrage. Truly overwhelmed by the significance of the event. Very cool.
Ok. Day one ends with 17,465 voters with 95 new registered voters. Great day. Looking forward to tomorrow and seeing more Marylanders making their voice heard.
I want to thank all of those Delegates that voted for the end of life option. It is very personal for me. I know those conversations and dealing with a loved one passing. I just wanted to say thank you. And I know she would say the same.
ICYMI: MD became the 1st in nation to pass legislation requiring online platforms (Like Twitter) to publicly disclose who are buying political ads. Shining a light on those trying to influence your vote. Hopefully this can be a model for the nation.
As noon over 24k Marylanders voted. And 59 registered and voted at the same time. Without Same Day, those 59 wouldn’t have had their voices heard.

Finally, in all of my time involved with elections and campaign, I made a list for winners and losers. I knew it was the shirt. Bringing style and enthusiasm back to election administration

Happy birthday to the US Constitution. 231 years old and going strong. Some necessary modifications and changes were made along the way but overall it has held up quite well. None of this works without the people making their voice heard. Voting matters.
Not only early voting is breaking records but absentee ballot requests are up compared to 2014 by nearly 50%. The absentee ballots received so far nearly equals the total received in 2014. Keep voting Maryland.
