In April 2016, while reporting one of the worst #droughts in #Marathwada #Maharashtra , I came across this well in a village in #Latur . Women spent whole day inside the well, waiting for water to appear. It took hours to fill 1 pot using a small tumbler. Drought is back again.

Do you see those yellow ‘sticky notes’ in the chilli field? Those are Sticky Traps on which certain type of pests stick. Depending upon how much pests have stuck, a farmer knows if they should spray a pesticide or not. This reduces unnecessary spraying on crops. Saves money too.

I was a young girl, may be 9 or 10yo, when I read this ‘Talisman’ printed in all my NCERT school text books. Back then never really understand its meaning though learnt it by heart. Now, as an adult, and in my early 40s, this is what makes sense the most. #GandhiJayanti
