James’ Place has received a substantial grant from the

to support our life-saving work. This will fund therapists at our centres in Liverpool, London, and Newcastle up to 31 March 2025.

A total of 79 charities across England will receive a share of £10 million for life-saving suicide prevention services.
This funding will mean more people can get the right support when they need it.

At James' Place the men we treat are in a suicidal crisis largely driven by life events such as losing a job, a relationship breakdown, financial problems or a bereavement. We quickly get to the heart of a man’s suicidal crisis, and help him solve it.

This weekend marks 3 years since we opened our 1st James' Place centre in Liverpool. Since then, we’ve supported over 450 men in suicidal crisis, continued to provide therapy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic & have begun to offer our life-saving intervention in London.💙

This funding has made a huge difference to the men we supported at our Liverpool centre in 2021/22. We are now focusing on expanding our provision, in London, and by opening three more centres, so we can reach more men in suicidal crisis and help them to find hope for the future.
More than 100 charities have received a share of £5.4 million to help prevent suicide.
This funding has provided support for those in high-risk groups, including people from black communities and men, with services including therapy and helplines.

We are pleased to see the new National Suicide Prevention Strategy and a Government commitment to reduce the suicide rate, particularly in higher risk groups such as middle aged men. It's vital this strategy receives appropriate funding to reach its goals.
🆕 Too many people are still affected by the tragedy of suicide, which is so often preventable.
That's why the new National Suicide Prevention Strategy makes a commitment to reduce the number of suicides in England within 2.5 years.
