The James Madison Foundation offers $24,000 Graduate Fellowships to individuals to become outstanding teachers of the Constitution in secondary schools.
Former Secretary of Education, John B. King, encourages secondary level government, history and civics teachers to apply for the $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships. Applications can be found at: .

New Frederick Douglass-James Madison Fellowship is Announced.
The new Frederick Douglass-James Madison Fellowship is a privately funded, $24,000 graduate fellowship, offered to people of color who are secondary level teachers or prospective teachers.
This Friday, July 5, 2019, The 2019 James Madison Lecture will be given by historian Gordon Wood. This event will be held in the Copley Formal Lounge on the campus of Georgetown University, at 1:30 p.m. This event is open to the public.
I am incredibly over the moon and humbled by this national honor bestowed upon me as the 2024 James Madison Fellow from Texas. Thanks to the foundation for this "glorious" opportunity.

We are sad at the passing of Senator Orrin G. Hatch, our friend and first trustee of the James Madison Foundation. He and Senator Edward M. Kennedy worked closely together, in a totally non-partisan way, to create the James Madison Fellowship program.

Our James Madison Fellows found Justice Ginsburg to be brilliant and thought-provoking, and they loved her witty sense of humor. Our deepest condolences to the Ginsburg family during this time of sorrow.

Farewell to our friend, Sandra Day O’Connor, the retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Our condolences are sent to her family members. Justice O’Connor was kind enough to speak to several classes of James Madison Fellows in past years.
This evening, Federal Express is picking up 53 boxes that contain the award letters and the Fellow's Handbooks for the 2018 class of James Madison Fellows. Awardees can expect a delivery next Monday or Tuesday.

Jen Jolley, our Summer Institute Coordinator has arrived, so we can go forward with the 2021 Summer Institute on the Constitution starting this weekend.
All four of our regular Summer Institute faculty members will be teaching at the 2021 Summer Institute. The Foundation is currently reaching out to other professors to join the 2021 faculty as we are expecting a much larger group of Fellows attending next summer.

For those James Madison Fellows who are wondering if the Foundation will be holding the 2021 Summer Institute on the Constitution, the answer is yes. We are planning on the arrival date to be June 12, 2021, and the departure date will be July 9, 2021.
Opening banquet--we are off to a good start at the 2018 Summer Institute. Our guest speaker was Jon Peede, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The last lecture of the 2021 Summer Institute on the Constitution has been delivered and the incredible Fellows are preparing to return home after four weeks of hard work.

We have two "Fellow's Fellows" attending the Summer Institute: Lucas George, '19 (OH), and Lois MacMillan, '21 (OR). The Fellow's Fellowship is funding by donations from other James Madison Fellows.
Thanks to Oliver Alwes of our staff, the Fellow's Handbooks were assembled and they will be sent out to the new James Madison Fellows via FedEx ground over the next couple of the days. All of the new fellows already received an electronic version of the Fellow's Handbook.
