The synagogue in question was hosting a "real estate sale" of stolen Palestinian land. Usually a "real estate sale" implies an owner chose to sell. Usually the owner wasn't murdered so it could be sold. Usually if people knew, they wouldn't buy it. Nothing about this is usual.
Chants of "intifada" & "from the river to the sea" glorify violence & genocide. Directing them at a synagogue makes it clear that this is antisemitism, anti-Jewish hate.
If like me you're a thin person howling over Jordan Peterson's anti-fat psychodrama, this is a good time to listen to fat activists and scholars so we not only affirm Yumi Nu's beauty, but also see anti-fat bias as a dangerous system to actively dismantle. Links below please add:
The first Pride was a protest for some of the most vulnerable and marginalized in society. We would do well to remember that in 2024.

To those upset that Meghan Murphy had her Twitter account suspended for constant transphobic harassment, and who are threatening to also leave twitter in transphobic solidarity with her, I definitely think you should do so. Do fight for your terrible principles... somewhere else.
No, no, no I was very clear in my Patreon that I would either use the money to develop “profound psychological insights” or to buy a purple velour couch
Your occasional reminder that when Jordan Peterson first became famous in 2016 by saying trans human rights would bring the end of democracy, none of you said he was "nuts" and instead nodded earnestly and gave him TV spots, and trans people were terrified not of him, but of you.
In honour of Trans Remembrance Day, a brief fact-check of a particularly inaccurate thread musing about trans people's problems as perhaps rooted in just their mental health problems.

Usually people of faith wouldn't want a sale of stolen land from murdered people to take place inside their place of worship. Usually the thought would horrify. Usually people of faith would consider this to be desecrating a sacred place. Nothing about this is usual.
A fantastic win for trans communities in this country - hats off to

"A Vancouver human-rights tribunal has ruled there’s no room for public debate about whether transgender people are who they say they are."
As others have already noted, this is an example of trans women (many Indigenous and racialized) doing protest and organizing work that actually benefits all of us
The review will consider whether existing rules governing the use of city community spaces by third parties uphold the city’s policies supporting equity, diversity and human rights.
Just your daily reminder that Jon Kay has no education, no background, no training, no knowledge-base, no experience, no expertise with trans issues, and absolutely nothing to offer on the subject.
So handy to have this new visual alert system for women and trans people and postmodern marxist minorities to stay FAR AWAY. Big improvement on that beeping phone emergency alert thing
To me the solution to the current university crisis seems obvious. Professors have small children at home with nothing to do. Professors also have online courses to teach. Obviously the small children will teach the courses. Win win win.
Wow. Very important change to the Twitter TOS that now prohibits deliberate misgendering of trans people as part of harassment policy. This is a really big deal and we need to start reporting tweets that refer to trans women as “men”
When trans youth in this study had strong parental support for their gender identity (not general support but support FOR their gender identity), their risk of suicide attempt dropped by 93%
Usually people wouldn't want their faith or culture associated with murder, occupation, genocide... so that if someone expressed opposition to murder, occupation, genocide, usually no one would accuse them of being against their particular faith or culture. This is not usual.
Just your daily reminder that Jon Kay has no education, no background, no training, no knowledge, no experience, no expertise on trans issues, and nothing to offer on the subject. Sadly, one among many who suffer terribly from "Career Dysphoria."
Again today, Jon Kay is unable to stop himself from making transphobic remarks about autistic trans youth. My Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship is focused on autistic trans experience and this does NOT reflect autistic trans reality at all.

Research on trans suicidality proves otherwise, instead showing that suicidality among trans people varies based on the life conditions many trans people are subjected to.

In fact, parents are unique among all others in a trans person’s life, in that their support (or lack-there-of) has an impact on their child’s risk for suicide for their entire lifetime

A friend who is there now says it feels like living inside something that’s dying, His neighbour attacked him for no reason. Unprovoked violence keeps erupting. People are suicidal for no clear reason. He thinks it’s all just different expressions of the death machine they’re in.
For the first time opposition to visible minority immigration higher than to immigration in general . 42% think too many immigrants aren't white. But CPC supporters register an all time high of 71%.The vast majority of CPC supporters think there are too many non white immigrants
A final note about the term “comorbidity” which means the presence of one or more diseases. Many professionals who work with trans people no longer use this term because it implies a trans person with depression has two “diseases”, 1) depression and 2) being trans. No.
Trans suicidality varies based on ability to medically transition. if desired. Those who wanted to medically transition but had not begun, were 27x more likely to have attempted suicide in the past year than those able to complete medical transition.
I’ve not said anything about murder rates, the focus of Trans Remembrance Day, but of the trans people murdered in the US between 2013 and 2017, 91% were trans women and 89% were people of colour. Trans women of colour need us to fight for and with them.
Suicidality and serious mental health problems among trans people are not inevitable but contingent on our place and treatment in the world. Suicide is a complex phenomenon but we have the information we need to dramatically change this alarming situation. It is our job to do it.
In one study with adolescent trans women, the correlation between major depression and having experienced gender abuse was so strong that researchers suggested a direct causal relationship
Lower exposure to transphobia in this study was associated with a 76% reduction in suicide attempts, hence this paper is titled “intervenable factors…” because we have the ability to intervene in societal transphobia.
In particular, Ontario’s trans community is concerned that given the number of conservative politicians who have been accused of sexual misconduct, the party may simply not be mature enough to make such a major decision.
2013-19, FDA recorded 6,379 deaths and 25,645 “serious” reactions in patients who took the hormone blocker known as Lupron — the same drug given to children who say their gender identity is not consistent with their biological sex.
@Indefatigabl_
@trapdinawrpool
Transphobic feminists (TERFS) should be labelled transphobic. Trans-inclusive or trans-positive feminism is more consistent with feminist principles which is why women’s services in this country (too slowly, granted) shifted over time to support trans women. Much work remains.
In this study, suicidality was predicted by whether trans youth were able to use their chosen name. Adding even one new context in which they could use their chosen name, predicted a 56% decrease suicidal behaviour
Oh just Jon Kay suggesting that women are murdered by their male partners in alarming numbers because... yes... because law enforcement spends too much time protecting sinister trans people. I can’t remember why he has no place in Canadian media anymore someone remind me.
There are many reasons why threads like this are irresponsible, but most glaring today, is that the holidays are specifically a very difficult and potentially dangerous time for trans youth.
@melnickjeffrey1
Right? I keep saying, ok, so in the future if it is your children being killed, you’d like us to continue politely respecting traffic rules and definitely not bother anyone about it while they’re shopping?
Peterson’s rescinded Cambridge “fellowship” seems to have not really been a fellowship at all. Who would have guessed that he would make himself seem grander than he is?
So, Peterson's legions writing to my HoD, College officials etc complaining I'm a 'provacateur' and 'controversialist' who should be reined in. (Doughty defenders of free speech). My investigations confirm was no 'Fellowship' at all, just an informal visiting arrangement.

I have been hearing more frequently the narrative that women's sport apparently exists as a 'protected category' so that women can win (because on this account without it no woman will ever win again)
This is: a) *not* the reason why women's sport exists as a category,
@christapeterso
Astonishing that anyone believes "We didn't kill you this time" is a kindness. If your home is destroyed in front of you but you survive, you understand the message: "We are your masters.. you run when we say run." And after all that no one thinks to ask *why* it was destroyed?🤯

Many people have contacted me about tonight's Library Board meeting and Meghan Muphy's room booking. I've though about it long and hard. Here are my thoughts:
He's right guys, I'm extreme. Tonight I baked my 8 year old a key lime birthday cake in the shape of a soccer field... making this extreme gesture even though last year the brat said the icing on his mango robot cake "could have been improved upon", which was extremely annoying
All this to say, that there are always multiple stories converging at once, and while the Ontario PC party tries to advance its bigotry, even at the same time within the same hotel as our research team, the trans community is miles ahead and will outlive and outlast this bigotry.
So fed up with talk about the COVID second wave as if its weather we can’t predict. “Go to the bar while you can before the second wave comes!” YOU ARE MAKING THE SECOND WAVE COME - IT IS NOT FALLING FROM SPACE.
@JesseBrown
Jesse you've misrepresented pro-Palestine actions for months, to the point where your intention is now unmistakable to many of your former supporters. You know this. You may not see it this way, but you know many do. Now you're surprised you're not being received in good faith?
And also I'm extreme in the sense that I don't tolerate *any* amount of transphobia targeting trans kids, not even just a little bit, even if it helps to build a new fan base for a media pundit during his unfortunate career downturn. I am extreme that way.
Jon Kay, on Pride weekend, making fun of the real heightened fear in queer and trans community. Kay truly deserves the toilet his career has fallen into, and the rest of us deserve to never see his face again on a reputable Canadian news site
