13 years ago I chose to run for school board because I believed that education is the best opportunity we have to give every child what they need to have equal opportunities, love for learning and bright futures. Still 100% true.
Our Board has returned from the SSBA Fall Assembly. It was an exciting few days of advocacy, as the Board had 2 resolutions carried by the provincial organization, and our very own trustee Jaimie Smith-Windsor was named SSBA president!
Prince Albert & area school divisions, on advice of local medical health officials, released back-to-school plans that include preK-12 mandatory masking indoors & on busses. Plans will be reviewed/adjusted regularly. Hopeful for a safe return to learning for staff & students!

It’s time for a universal, stigma-free school nutrition program.
Our new study, “Food insecurity among Canadian families,” offers insight into the families most at risk of food insecurity and looks at those below and above the poverty line.

In 2017, municipal & school capital projects started paying PST on construction labour. With accelerating inflation of construction costs, reinstating an exemption to local governments makes sense. School infrastructure shouldn't be a source of prov tax revenues.
