I want my 7 year old daughter to write too. It’s a challenge to get her to compose something. Will show her this . Hopefully she will get inspired too.
My mother and I sometime in the eighties. Ma turns 79 today. Hope you have a fantastic birthday, Ma and thank you for having me so late in life . Mothering me must have been an absolute pain at times since I have never been an easy human to be with. Happy birthday 🎈❤️🎂
Discovered a gorgeous little cafe in Langley! My little one quipped that my cup of tea looked as big as a ramen bowl 😀Here I am drowning in tea.

Had a beautiful birthday celebration as I grew older but not wiser“ I share a birthday with an empress”. A line from my own poem ‘ A meditation upon love’.Yes, I share it with Mumtaz Mahal according to the internet 😀My poem was about the Taj Mahal as well.
Somebody is making papad/ poppadum in my neighborhood. I just had to click a picture. With their permission, of course. As immigrants we do take our food and culture into the countries we move into.
My sister gifted me a mekhela sador woven especially for me just before I got married. It’s a testament to the resilience of Assam silk (pat). The peacocks are still dancing in all their glory, more than 14 years later.

We Indians complain about aunties and uncles who judge us or offer unwanted advice. Many of us end up repeating the same cycle. Just blocked a former student of mine offering his insight on my hair. “ Itne young age mein ache nahi lag rahe” , he says. Firstly I am not young.
The magnificence of Axomiya pat ( Assam silk) is unparalleled. The guna ( gold thread work) remains luminous after more than a decade. Poems should be written about the elegance of a mekhela sador.

Enid Blyton might be controversial now but I’m still happy to see my daughter on page 315 😀. My childhood was spent buried in books and this is just fantastic to see.
