Today's the big day: My new sapphic romance "Bachelorette Number Twelve" is finally available everywhere!
Warmhearted ER nurse Ellie accidentally wins a date with the icy doctor she can't stand.

In the past few days, I got dozens of hateful comments and even hate mail for organizing a fun event for readers, simply because the books feature LGBTQIA characters.
Sadly, thatโs not new, but this year, it seems especially bad.
THIS is why we still need Pride Month.
If you are a part of the
#sapphic
fiction community, you've probably heard the rumors about one of "our" authors deceiving everyone by claiming a fake persona.
He's still not telling the full truth, so I & some author friends are doing it instead:
Right now, I'm dealing with the second stalker-ish situation of the year. Unfortunately, inappropriate behavior toward authors is a common problem in
#sapphic
fiction.
I think it's time to talk about it.

To celebrate, I posted a list of 100 books with lesbian main characters on my blog.
The list is focused on lesbian books by indie authors and small LGBTQ+ presses.
Check out the book list on my blog:
Next week,
#PrideMonth
will start, and many people all over social media will be sharing their Pride stacks and must-read lists of LGBT+ books, which is great.
But it's also really frustrating.

Happy
#AsexualAwarenessWeek
to all of my asexual, demisexual, and ace-spectrum friends & followers!
I hope you feel seen and appreciated, not just this week but always!
Hi! I'm Jae (she/her), a cis queer woman from Germany. I write slow-burn romances between women and just published my 19th novel. My characters are lesbian, bi, pan, and ace.
You can find me here:

It's
#InternationalLesbianDay
so I'm resharing a post listing 100 books with lesbian characters, which I put together earlier this year for Lesbian Visibility Week.
Happy Lesbian Day, fellow lesbians!
I'm excited to present the new cover of my upcoming sapphic romance Bachelorette Number Twelve!
It's an enemies-to-lovers romance in which a kind ER nurse finds herself accidentally winning a date with a prickly doctor at a singles auction.
It'll be published in January 2024!
๐โค๐งก๐๐๐๐๐
For
#PrideMonth
, I'll post a list of
#sapphicbooks
by small LGBT+ publishers & indie authors to give more visibility to books that often aren't included on Pride book lists.
Every day, I'll share 1 sapphic book I loved and 1 from my to-be-read list.

I'm so honored to announce that I'm one of this year's recipients of the Alice B. Medal, a literary award given for career achievements.
Congratulations to
@malindalo

Occassionally, I still hear complaints about there being so few
#sapphicbooks
...yet there are easily 20,000+ of them!
If you have no idea where to find them (or you want to find MORE of them), hereโs my list of top 10 places to find sapphic books:
I have a few very important things to say about the entire Adam Gaffen/AC Adams situation.
We need to be careful not to allow this situation to harm the sapphic fiction community & the LGBTQIA community even further!
So please read this mini thread.
My annual reminder for
#PrideMonth
Please make sure youโre not just recommending the same 15 books everyone else is recommending.
There are so many great books from BIPOC authors, disabled authors, neurodivergent authors, indie authors, & authors from small LGBTQ+ presses.

My 70-year-old, straight male neighbor told me today that he's reading one of my sapphic romances right now (Shaken to the Core), and apparently, he's really enjoying it!
Today is my 10-year anniversary of giving up my day job as a psychologist to write sapphic romance full-time.
It was the scariest yet best decision of my life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who contributed to making it possible, especially my readers! โค
Despite the rain, I thought it important to attend our local Pride parade (called CSD = Christopher Street Day in Germany) this year.
It was wonderful to see so many people celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community & take a stance against homophobia, transphobia & fascism.
#PrideMonth
Today is my 9-year anniversary of writing
#sapphicbooks
full-time!
Thanks so much to everyone who supported me by buying my books, reviewing them, sharing my posts, beta reading, or cheer-leading for me! I appreciate it whole-heartedly!
I woke up at 5 am this morning and clicked on the livestream of the GCLS Literary Award Ceremony just in time to watch my latest novel, Just a Touch Away, win an Ann Bannon Popular Choice Award (silver)!
Congratulations to all winners & finalists!
I'm upset & furious right now. Someone plagiarized my latest sapphic novel Bachelorette Number 12!
But this isn't just about me. Plagiarism & copyright infringements harm the entire community of sapphic authors & readers.
Read my blog post about it here:
I've been meaning to put together a website for

of
#sapphic
fiction for years now, and today, I finally launched the Sapphic Quill!

My roommate & I are watching Netflix with subtitles on.
Roomie: Ooh, did you see that?
Me: Yeah, โtightly controlledโ shouldnโt have been hyphenated.
Roomie: I meant the explosion.
(1) Since it's
#PrideMonth
, I see a lot of "Queer/LGBT+ books you need to read this month" lists going around on social media. Which is great. Mostly.
But more often than not, these lists are very one-sided and not a good representation of the
#LGBTQIA
fiction that is out there.
I received a wonderful gift from a member of my FB reader group today: my very own pair of rainbow shoes!
One shoe has the titles of all my books on it, while the other has the characters' names.
What a wonderful reminder that kind and generous people exist!
I'm putting together a Google doc of
#Mastodon
handles of
#sapphicfiction
authors & reviewers so that those of us new to Mastodon can find each other more easily.
If you are an author or reviewer of
#sapphic
books, would you add your handle?

My sister just adopted two kittens, and they are so cute that I thought I'd share.
Can you blame me for requesting daily photos of the new feline family members?
Today is the 15th anniversary of my first book, Backwards to Oregon, being published!
I can't believe how much the publishing industry, especially in a niche such as
#sapphicfiction
, has changed during that time!
It has been an amazing journey! Thanks so much for your support!
Today is my anniversary!
It's been 8 years since I gave up my day job to write full-time.
Thank you so much for all your support, for reading my books, and for making my dream possible!
Woohoo! I just found out that my romance novel "Wrong Number, Right Woman" is an International Book Awards winner in the Fiction: LGBTQ category!

If you find yourself writing a hate-filled email to someone you don't even know, please stop and examine where all that hate is coming from.
If you're a reader, blogger, or reviewer, please make sure you include books by indies & small presses when you share your Pride lists!

I'm emailing a total of 91 fellow sapphic fiction authors whose books have been plagiarized and/or had their copyright violated.
It sucks.
Can I please just return this week? Can't recommend at all.
Yes, there's some great sapphic fanfiction out there, but there are also many awesome published sapphic books available.
If you haven't found them yet, you are looking in the wrong places. There are many THOUSANDS of sapphic books published by small presses and indies.

It's my birthday today, and yes, I'm over 40 :-)

I'm putting together the Sapphic Book Bingo for 2024.
One of the categories will be "must-read sapphic books"--books so awesome that everyone should read them.
I don't want to rely on my own opinion, so what are your sapphic must-read books?
A writer's brain works in mysterious ways. I'm working on the last chapters of my "Cuddler Romance," and out of nowhere, my brain spits out the opening line for a new story.
The line: There was a naked woman in her kitchen.

One of my best friends, a straight woman, came across Worth the Wait on one of Amazon's bestseller lists last night...and she sent me a text saying she just bought it. ๐ฌ๐คฃ
Did I mention it's erotica?

There are THOUSANDS! You just have to look in the right places instead of sticking to Big 5-published books.

I donโt have a Christmas tree because my roommate is allergic, but my best friend just sent me this Christmas book ornament!
The bauble is filled with mini versions of my books! How cool is that?
Because I often see the same books from big publishing houses being shared, while books from small queer publishers and indie authors are being ignored.

On a recent trip to another city in Germany, I visited a big bookstore. I was grateful to see an entire shelf of
#queerbooks
, many of them sapphic.
However, ALL of them were young adult. Do mainstream bookstores & publishers think people stop being queer after 25?
I work with this arrogant doctor who thinks she's God's gift to medicine.
Then I accidentally bid on her in a singles auction, and it was for a good cause, so we couldn't back out.
Now it's starting to dawn on me that maybe I don't hate her quite as much as I thought...
I'm speechless and honored to have received the Ann Bannon Popular Choice Award for "Wrong Number, Right Woman"!
Thanks so much to everyone who voted for it!
After sending out my newsletter, where I mentioned getting tons of hateful comments this Pride Month, I got 50 emails from readers showing their support.
I was surprised how many said they were straight but love sapphic fiction! Yay for straight allies with great taste in books!
The Sapphic Book Bingo 2024 has officially kicked off!
Our year-long reading challenge is a fun way to find new favorite books & authors and win book prizes.

(1) Something upsetting happened this week:
One of my novels, The Roommate Arrangement, has been plagiarized along with 8 other novels, most of them part of the WLW/lesbian romance genre.

Writing romance in times of coronavirus is weird. My characters are about to kiss for the first time, and part of me wants to shout: No, keep your distance! ๐ณ
#amwritingromance

It's sad and infuriating. My publisher and I gave away 10,000s of free books during the pandemic, and yet my new novel was up on an illegal pirate website the very day it was released!
On the bright side: Thank you to all the honest readers who buy my books so I can write more!
I know we canโt stop people from pirating books, but itโs so exhausting to deal with. I would gladly send my books for free so I can keep writing novels instead of cease and desist letters
I *finally* got around to opening a big box of books my publisher sent me so I can restock my shelves!
It's always wonderful and a bit humbling to them gathered together into a pile like this!
My roomie sent me a text I couldn't make sense of.
Me: Huh?
No answer from her. A minute later, she comes in and gives me a hug.
Me: Uh, thanks, but what's that for?
Roomie: You ordered a hug.
Turns out autocorrect turned "huh" into "hug." ๐คฃ
I spent the last five hours drawing the winners of our big sapphic book giveaway, emailing authors and winners!

Time for the cover reveal: This is the brand-new cover for my upcoming

By the way, if you want to make sure you don't miss it when it's out, feel free to sign up to my reader newsletter:

We canโt stress this enough! Audiobooks are books. Implying that they โdonโt countโ as reading is an ableist attitude.
Whatever format of reading you prefer is great, no matter if itโs ebooks, paperbacks, or audiobooks!
Did you know your brain processes listening to audiobooks the same way it processes reading physical and ebooks with your eyes? That's because
#AudiobooksAreRealBooks
. Listening to audiobooks is reading.
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes!
I had a wonderful day that I got to spend with my twin sister, family, and friends--and the best cheesecake in the world, made after my grandmother's recipe โค
My

Who else has watched it, and what did you think?
Happy Galentineโs Day, everyone!
No, that's not a typo, and I'm not a day early. Galentineโs Day celebrates friendships between women, and that's something I value just as much as romantic love.
I just discovered that my free sapphic novelette "A Place to Call Home" has been getting a lot of 1-star reviews from homophobes because Amazon is promoting it to Christian readers.
Sigh. Nora & Luke deserve better.

Yay! It's done! I sent my manuscript off to my publisher last night. It ended up at 67,000 words--definitely NOT a novella.
Now I'm waiting to hear what my editor thinks.
(1) Some days, it gets really exhausting.
I've been up until 1 am last night, preparing a presentation for new sapphic fiction authors and next year's reading challenge, in which I promote hundreds of sapphic fiction authors.
That's not the exhausting part, though.
Some readers think that reporting typos in a book to Amazon is helping authors. It's actually harming them.
Please reach out to the author directly instead.
It is possible to read over typos and not complain about them. Or to tell the author directly if you feel you must say something. Or to leave a review saying the typos bothered you. Anything is better than reporting errors to Amazon. ANYTHING.
