2 weeks ago, at 42 years old, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD by my primary care physician. He prescribed 20mg Adderall. Every morning at 7am I take a silly-looking pill, and now my whole body feels like it works a little bit better than the day before. It’s surreal. AMA.

Unpopular developer opinion, and also venting... I hate that everything I do requires command line stuff. I miss installers, GUIs, and IDE integration with my tools. I spend most of my workday frustrated at how broken everything is. It is a genuine shock when something works.

WordPress Opinion: developers should never build something that needs to expose a post ID to a user. If you need a user to input a post ID, give them a GUI to do it. At least: a text input with an AJAX powered search (bbPress.) Standard: a select element with limited options.

I’m 195lbs, down from 230 high. My upticks correlate to different meds my doctor and I were trying to help with depression, that also noticeably increased my appetite. Gaining/losing 35lbs affected me in the obvious societal ways, negative & positive. Feeling better/happier 💪

This WordPress ticket, with 1 screen shot and 2 small patches, took me 1 hour. 2 hours of a 40 hour workweek is 5%. This extremely minor CSS change is 2.5% of the weekly FFTF suggestion. This is why democratizing publishing matters. It all takes time.

I switched to an M1 powered MacBook Air for all of my work & OSS development. Netbeans (and JDK) work as expected, using Rosetta2. iTerm2, Homebrew, Starship, Pastebot, CleanshotX, and SequelAce all work normally. I push code to a Raspberry Pi running Ubuntu 20 as my “local”.
