When we arrived in Repino a month ago, this was on my bed. I’ve looked at it every day since – and it was the first thing I looked at when we got back this morning.
I am so proud to work for this team and this manager.
I’ve obviously been reading the replies (😫), so I guess I should make my point clearer:
I AM NOT SAYING MANAGERS SHOULDN’T GET SACKED.
I’m saying there is a human (and, in this case, a family) behind your manager – irrespective of how well-compensated they might be.
Me on Wednesday: It’s not that Millwall were *that* bad, it’s just Fulham are so much better than the rest of the Championship
Rest of the Championship:
So, that’s that. Not the colours I wanted to see as I left Wembley for the last time after an incredible five-and-a-half years working for the
@FA
.
Loved every minute, even tonight. We’re getting closer.
And I’m talking about abuse.
Maybe your manager can deal with abuse. Maybe they can’t. But what’s the point? I honestly don’t think abusing a manager encourages their club to sack them, anyway.
The 2012
#SouthCoastDerby
was my first game working for Saints.
Didn’t realise at the time that Portsmouth’s late equaliser which a) didn’t keep them up and b) didn’t stop Saints going up would be something they’d celebrate for so long.
Good luck tonight,
@SouthamptonFC
! 😇
As well as someone who knows how to win, we surely want our clubs to be managed by someone that ‘gets’ their fanbase and works hard for them.
I’d be far less inclined to do my best for someone if they stood behind me at work calling me a c*nt and asking my boss to sack me.
Cheers for all the comments about the
@England
squad announcement. Enjoyed pulling something unexpected together – hope we see the same this summer! 🏴
Pep: the fixtures are what they are (referring to the number of fixtures right now)
Thanks to Millwall for allowing us to use there facilities down here. We owe them something and they can train in Manchester one day
#ManCity
In a game last month I watched Edwards’
#Millwall
side produce half an hour of the best football I’d seen us play for about 20 years.
Five weeks, two goals and one point later… he’s gone. Football is weird.
STOSHTY! Enjoyed being one of the lucky 68 to see a live recording of
@gossipmongers1
tonight.
Spoiler: turns out that there’s a LOT they can’t broadcast.
@GaryLineker
Hi Gary. The
#Lionhearts
are members of the public, with the final 23 selected from the hundreds who’d been nominated by our fans for doing the country proud this year.
There’s a bit more on the campaign here:
Back in Saint Petersburg. Weird feeling – out of the
#WorldCup
but something still to play for.
Hope the next few days are a fitting end to an incredible couple of months.
Two years ago,
@MGilbert
gave me the idea of a daily live show from the
@England
camp at
#EURO2016
. It didn’t get off the ground.
Tonight, it all came together. The
#LionsDen
is open for business.
Everyone knows what he’s done for our club and it’s best not thinking about where we’d be without him.
I won’t forget the time and patience he gave to this young journalist, never failing to answer a pestering email or unsolicited call to his office.
He was great. RIP, JB.
Full of respect for my colleagues for staging such a brilliant media day today. To secure the trust and backing of that many players and the backroom staff shouldn’t be underestimated.
Hope the resulting coverage reflects the effort that went into organising the day.
A pipe dream became a reality today as we gave a Super Bowl twist to an
@England
Media Day at
@StGeorgesPark
.
