Ok, last #Indy500 forecast and we shift to “nowcasting” in the morning: latest models leaned early arrival for round 1 (noon-1pm). If that’s the hand we’re dealt, it’s early impact, but earlier finish to that rain, and thus larger gap to work with til 8pm..next update early AM!

2 PM RADAR UPDATE: almost there…popping into a dry gap, then one small sliver of a shower to go. Lightning is well over 30 miles away and continues to move off to the east. We look pretty good to start drying very soon. #Indy500 #INDYCAR

9 AM UPDATE: I still feel pretty good about this timeline..there’s going to be some tweaking to exact rain arrival as we get closer, as it speeds/slows and depending where IMS is located relative to the leading edge of the rain…dry window on the backside still looks good though

Nice point and just something to keep in mind… #INDYCAR has an 8 mi radius limit, so any lightning detected within that radius is a 30-min hold from the last strike…rain or no-rain

First look #PortlandGP forecast: pack your rain gear. Pattern setting up would keep rainshowers in the area much of Friday into Saturday..clearing by Sunday. Won’t rain the whole time..but could be raining at any time..if that makes sense. Stay tuned for updates. #INDYCAR

Good news/bad news in this morning’s data. GOOD: some signs storms initiate further upstream..that scenario delays arrival til 3-4pm block, so full race easy. BAD: those storms would be rather mature by the time they get into the area (i.e. severe) so stay alert out there today!

Ok, let’s talk about tomorrow’s weather..wind shift in AM from east to south..I think a few showers pop-up maybe 10am, but I like the odds to avoid the early stuff..I start getting nervous around 1pm. By 2pm all bets are off. Some of these storms may go severe, so stay alert.

“Rate limit exceeded” so can’t see anything on Twitter and not sure if anyone can see this…but current radar…so far most cells have not tracked in vicinity of #MidOhio …but keep an eye on this band..2:30-3:00 pm if it can stay together. Don’t bother replying to me I guess lol.

Feels like awhile since I’ve posted one of these…but I’m back at generating forecasts…and so far #Bommarito500 weather looks OK…we’ll have to keep an eye on updates this week to see if precip timing changes, but call it dry for now with daytime temps hitting upper-80s #INDYCAR

Updated #Indy500 practice weather: I’m backing off rain a bit for tomorrow..looks like majority might sit just off to the west, but can’t rule out a cell roaming thru @IMS at some point. I’ll update again in the early morning. Threw in a long-range look at weekend too #INDYCAR

I think there’s a window Friday but a couple moving pieces as to how big it is: system blows thru early tomorrow, hangs up to the south & waves back to the north mid-late afternoon. Best case: AM showers done early, min drying needed, & rain slow building back in..update in AM!

As I mentioned yesterday..shift in tomorrow’s (potential) rainmaker..Indy is right on the cusp between a wet day and a potentially dry day..a few miles north to south will make the difference..if we’re in the thick of it, could be wet through about 2pm #Indy500 #INDYCAR
