Tipu Sultan's Tent. This tent is about 52 sq. mtr. During the final battle in 1799 of Seringapatam, Tipu marshalled his troops from this very tent. When Tipu lost the war & died, Robert Clive took the possession of this tent and it's currently at the Powis Castle.

There are many temples in Northern India based on Southern Indian temple architecture. One of them is Sri Vaikunthanatha Temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan. This beautiful temple is dedicated to Bhagvan Vishnu. @LostTemple7

Who was Anarkali ?? - (A Thread) For most of us, Anarkali was like Madhubala, as depicted in the epic film, Mughal-e-Azam. In fact, Anarkali was first mentioned by an English traveller, William Finch, who visited India in 1608 โ€“ 11, during Jahangirโ€™s reign.

Today On 9 March 1858, a British court martial held within the Red Fort declared the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, guilty of rebellion, treason and murder before exiling him to Rangoon in the then British-controlled Burma.

This is an ancient indian love note on rock dating to 2nd BCE. This is from Jogimara caves, Chhattisgarh. The inscription is in Brahmi Lipi & mentions the name of sculptor & his beloved. The rocky love note was scribbled by Devadina for his pretty lady Sutanuka.

Probably the most detailed painting of the Indian landscape: The Trading Post of the Dutch East India Company, Hooghly, Bengal by Hendrik van Schuylenburgh, 1665. Zoom & Look at the social scenes. You will find the same portrayal in the terracotta temples of Bengal.

With a crowd roaring in laughter and jeering, he went home and took a flight to Bombay, never to return. He took all his money and offices out of Bengal. Today they are one of the top industrial houses in the country. So did JK, so did Thapar, within a month.

Emperor Akbar decided to build a mosque in Jaunpur in 1560s, so that his wife bears him a child. The governor Munim Khan resorted to forcefully extract money from the people there.Akbar went & a widow complained & convinced him to build a bridge instead of a mosque. Akbar agreed.

1500 yrs old Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Karachi, Pakistan is one of the oldest hindu temples in Pakistan. The temple holds special significance for Hindus as it is the only shrine in the world which is said to have a โ€œnatural statueโ€ of Hanuman that is not man-made. #HanumanJi

We all have seen the priest-king excavated at Mohenjo-daro, currently in the National Museum of Pakistan, shows one shoulder draped in a piece of cloth with a trefoil pattern. This is called Ajrakh, the double sided block printing still practised in Sindh and Kutch.

The tomb of Mumtaz Mahal & Shahjahan is the Taj Mahal. This is the tomb of her sister Shah Parwar Khanam & her husband Nawab Fareed. This is in Sheikhupura, Badaun town. Sab ek jhalak dekh ke badh jaate hai aage, Main Waqt ke showcase mein chup chaap khada huun.."

Mahisasurmardini: India, Pala era, 10th century. The statue was sold for $ 912,500 in 2018 at an auction in New York. Highly insensitive that the lady here standing on the pedestal with her shoes on. For her it may be a sculpture but for hindus it's their goddess Ma Durga.

Painting of Kalighat Kali Temple on the Hoogly river, 1855 by artist Abram Louis Buvelot. Somewhere near to this temple a fisherman while fishing found 200 Gupta era gold coins in the 18th century. One might find many more such coins there using latest Research & Technology.
