The options to use five subs removes a key pillar from football coaching - team selection. It doesn’t matter what team you pick if you can change half of it. This is such a bad move. More power to the bigger clubs and, as such, entirely predictable.

The great flaw in the Pochettino ‘cups versus top four’ debate is that he seems to think the two things are mutually exclusive. They aren’t. For a club of Spurs size, it should be possible to aim for for both. His squad at Spurs isn’t deep enough and that is partly his fault.
