We had the enormous privilege of flying 102-year-old Jeff Brereton in “Pegs” yesterday, with R4118 in formation. Jeff was a fitter on R4118 in the Battle of Britain, but didn’t get to see her from this angle until 83 years later. A very emotional experience!

The Hurricane Heritage team had the huge privilege of reuniting Jeff Brereton with R4118 at @IWMDuxford today. Jeff was a fitter with 605 Sqn, based at Croydon in the summer of 1940 and actually worked on R4118 during the Battle of Britain. An incredible day.

100-year old Jeff Brereton was a fitter with 605 Squadron at Croydon during the Battle of Britain, where he worked on R4118. He was considered lucky by the aircrew as his aircraft always returned unscathed. Here he is rubbing a bit of good luck back into R4118 81 years later
