This was such a great experiential learning journey. I'm grateful for my supervisor's constant guidance and support

Looking forward to the next exciting chapter!
Dear Lab P.I.s,
I have had 0 good publications so far. But 2-3 good poster presentations. I hold some proficiency in data analysis and have a decent research acumen.
Give prospective candidates like us a chance for an interview.
Thank you.
Officially rejected from all the PhD schools that I applied to, in this cycle. Definitely hurts a lot but I will take the feedback in the right spirit, improve my research skills and apply again in the next cycle ✨
Hey folks, I've joined UNESCO-MGIEP as a research and data analysis project officer. Grateful for my supervisor's support and learnings from my institution. Excited to develop on-site research skills further!
as I am about to finish my masters, I am having second thoughts about pursuing a career in academia. The result one gets by putting in back-breaking hard work is almost nil. and It takes pride in being that way.
Hey Folks, So I will be applying this upcoming application cycle and have made an excel sheet to help organize my applications better. Do check it out, and feel free to download it or make a copy of it! Share in your circles if you find it useful 🌻
a little late life update: received my MSc. Cognitive Science degree from
@iitdelhi
on 12th August 🌟
really thankful to the institution, professors and batchmates in making this learning experience a memorable one.
looking forward to pursuing fun questions in social cognition ❤️
Are any Psych RA position openings in your circle available to international students on a remote basis? Areas of interest: cognitive psychology, moral psychology, social neuroscience. Any leads would be appreciated 🙏

Looking forward to other curiosity -sparking talks at the conference.

@iitdelhi
🎉
Lots of wonderful lectures, workshops, to be attended by diverse participants from across the country! 🔥
I had a lovely session today with a bunch of excited kids about what psych. is, how I chose this field, and the future scope! One of my primary goals has always been to communicate psychological science better to common folks 🌻
(p.s.: everyone loved the duck/rabbit illusion)
the variety of things i have on my CV really concerns anyone who plans to hire me for a PhD/job 😂
Like usually their first question is: why were you working on sexual fantasies, then psychosocial development, then post covid symptoms and emotions at last???
It is baffling to me how Indian academia has managed its study participants' pool without any funding to pay (from my experience) the individuals for their participation 💀😮
Hey Folks, If you know of any upcoming conferences in the area of emotions, embodiment, or social cognition, do send them my way! Can definitely use some help :))
Excited to present my poster on the 18th July at The International Society for Research on Emotion 2024 Conference, ISRE2024

Poster session 1 (South Dining Hall), 12:30-1:30 PM, Nb. 34
I absolutely dislike being put in a box. As a budding social-experimental psychologist, I don't wanna be told that I can't use an EEG/fNIRS on the field because that is not my area or something.
Curiosity should matter the most. Questions should guide the most.
Periodt.
Honestly, seeing everyone present their research stuff while folks from third world nations struggle to get a visa or even save up to pay the exorbitantly high costs is disheartening. They must accomodate remote participation 🤝
Let’s please pay attention to this. All APS and APA conferences have to accommodate remote participation. We can’t change discriminatory visa practices but we can assist those who are the victims of such practices
Thank you so much ma'am. Your support means a lot! These questions are challenging to address but definitely super fun to deal with! Looking forward to presenting our work on more such places🎉
Congratulation

yesterday! Amazing to see folks from my alma mater, CHRIST UNI. 💥 , IIMB, IIT Kanpur, CBCS Allahabad, IIIT Hyderabad, among others!
Quite interested to know from people who changed their area after finishing their PhD. Is it really possible? For example, if one has a PhD in a field like cog neuro, can they switch to criminal psy research (applied) after their PhD?All kinds of views are welcome!
@PsychChatter
I don't know how many PIs take note of this:
If a potential applicant has taken a work year or if there are gap years in their application, there is certainly a phase of financial instability in their life!!!
Understand this, and respect it.
Hi all! My friend Nataasha Khattar is a clin-psych grad student at

If you (as a lab P.I.) or know of anyone in your network
who is hiring a Ph.D. student in the field of social cognition, social neuroscience, moral psychology,
kindly let me know! I'm excited to apply!
Sometimes I get so anxious and feel like I haven't done anything while others are getting papers published, getting into great PhD programs and winning scholarships. Do others feel this way too?

Everything Psych NG is a community of psychology students from all over Nigeria who have come together to realise that ‘no be only us waka come’. We are a community of like-minded psychology students and professionals across Nigeria sharing our experiences, and many more.
Been a part of Everything Psych for a few weeks now. I teach research methods w/

to UG students. It has been a delightful experience so far, working together, interacting with students, having lovely discussions, and learning from them!
It's incredible how much being in the field can teach you about research rather than being in labs. Will share some insights from a recent project soon 🎉
It really baffles me that universities charge ridiculously high prices just for an application fee. Just to put things into context, $105 would be ~ 8000 Indian Rupees, which is even more than what I earn from my freelance job on a monthly basis!

Hey folks, do reach out to me if you think your research in psychology addresses everyday questions. Would love to host an episode focusing on common fascinating questions!
I sometimes wonder being a 25 year old researcher without any serious publication, will the academic world take me seriously once I go back to it at the age of 27 years 👶 😳?
Is someone here an expert on logistic regression? I would like to know how and what all do you report after performing basic logistic regression analyses/tests like glm(), wald.test() and oddsratio.wald() in r.

For the last few months, I have been working on a super cool project! Developing a large-scale research study to measure the efficacy of social-emotional learning and digital pedagogy training for educators in South Africa!
Check out some updates here:
As part of the social and cultural constructions of emotions, I worked on a term paper exploring the experience of shame following WW II. It truly was an amazing experience that taught me how such collective emotions can take shape among historical contexts and social inst.🙌🏽
This podcast attempts to talk about things that seem important to us (from our everyday lives) from a psychological science perspective.
This episode onwards, I try to sit down with student researchers across the country in addressing these fascinating questions!
If you studied Psychology at university, did you give much thought to what comes after when you made that choice: eg the need for professional postgraduate training, the availability of jobs, the competitiveness? Could courses do more to reflect the realities / prepare graduates?
The impact of social media on teenagers have been well documented in terms of potential negative emotions experienced and harms from misinformation. But what else need to be studied more?
1. moral dilemmas online?
2. dealing with online conflicts?
3. perspective taking?

It is an established fact that empathy can be cognitively taxing. I'm interested in looking at the evolutionary underpinnings of such a theory. Any leads?

It's not much talked about but in a place with such varying skin tones and colors, one would expect that there would be more acceptance and inclusivity. But there isn't. Many a times the colour of my skin has been mentioned in funny conversations and jokes. Which is not okay.

Can someone from your team check this please?
We all face rejection at some point. But it is super important to know that if you were not a right "fit" for the position, the position was not a right fit for YOU either. Keep doing your best 🫶
