Everyone associated with Holte has been saddened recently to hear of the death of our former Headteacher Pat Walters who led the school from 2001-2015. She had a huge impact on the lives of many young people and helped build the successful careers of many staff at the school.
Got this through the post today. 4 years of work around behaviour management, restorative practice, rewards, SEND, mental health, wellbeing and a raft of safeguarding work have led to us receiving the Pivotal Gold Award. Good job Holte staff !
BBC3 cameras in school today filming our brilliant group of pupils who are trying to overcome a stammer with Mr Ahmed. The pupils did an assembly to all year 7 pupils which took a lot of courage. They will feature in the 'Amazing Humans' series shortly.
Fantastic day for some of our Year 10 pupils
@Holte_School
who graduated from the
@BrilliantClub
today at Oxford University. Great to see and now the challenge is to be going there for real in September 2022 !
Excellent
#WorldBookDay2019
@Holte_School
today. Some of the staff excelling themselves in their costumes and great displays all around the school showing the favourite book of each staff member.
Proud that the
@Holte_School
science department has handed over 235 pairs of goggles today to help the battle against Covid-19 at the QE hospital. Thanks to everyone who helped get this sorted.
It is indeed true. Mrs Wain has retired today after 40 years and one term of serving the Lozells community
@Holte_School
. Not a dry eye in the house this afternoon as she said her farewells. Everyone wishes her all the best in her retirement.
Congratulations to all of our Year 11, 12 and 13 pupils who received exam results today. We are very proud of your achievements and, if you are leaving us today, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Do keep in touch.
Many thanks from everyone
@Holte_School
for your presentations today. The pupils were fascinated and have been talking about it all day. If that prevents one of them going through what you did, today was well worth it. All the best in your future work.
Thank you. We know the local community is always very supportive of the school and we will demonstrate at our Parents Forum next week why we believe recent coverage has been unfair and not representative of what Holte does for the young people of Lozells.
At Holte this week we held restorative meeting number 71 of the school year between teacher and pupil. Even more between pupil and pupil. Staff and pupils trained by College of Mediators certainly putting the training to good use.
Just before the Christmas holidays,
@Holte_School
staff and pupils did a brilliant job donating food and drink to 5 local food banks. Hopefully it’s making the difference for some people right now.
Fantastic to have pupils back in the building today from years 10 and 12. And here are the individual piles of work for every pupil to be working on when they are not in school which are being distributed via 1 to 1 meetings with pupil and family.
Really proud of the Holte pupils and staff who have provided nearly 500 hampers to
@Gateway_FS
@StBasilsCharity
@Bhamchildtrust
Blessed2Bless, Anchor Trust and Throughcare Housing Support over the past week. Holte at its best. Still Year 11 hampers to come today too !
Proud day. Received the plaque in person from
@pivotalollie
today designating us as one of 3 Pivotal training hub secondary schools across the country. Recorded a Pivotal podcast while he was with us documenting the school's work on behaviour and other areas.
Well done to Year 10
@Holte_School
who put these hampers together for Birmingham Foodbank which were collected today following the year group’s end of term achievement assembly. Can another year group beat this total ??
In all the years we have had the
@sleuthtracking
system to track behaviour we have never had a year group go through the first 4 weeks of the year without one referral. We have now ! Take a bow year 7. Four weeks in and not one of the 192 pupils has had a behaviour referral.
What would be the best reward trip in the world ? Got to be Manchester United on a Wednesday night in the rain against Colchester. Big well done to the nominated pupils who are drawing the term to a close in a way they won’t forget !!!
Staff training day today and we are all immersed in the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, childhood trauma and Attachment theory to make us a 'Trauma and Attachment aware school'. Going to tie in so well with our
@PivotalEd
work and restorative practice. Very exciting !!!
11 lucky pupils got to experience the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ on Thursday night on a reward trip to watch
@ManUtd
play in the Europa League. A great night and well deserved for the pupils chosen. Other pupils already asking when we are going again so they can aim to be selected.
So proud that our
@DianaAward
ambassadors, Christina and Fatima, were invited to Downing St this week to celebrate the amazing work they have done this year. And here's the proof......
A group of year 8 pupils had a fantastic morning
@AstonHallMuseum
this morning taking part in a Civil War workshop on Thomas Holte, the Royalist owner of the hall during the Civil War.
Congratulations to all of the pupils who collected their GCSE results today. A great year group who have recorded a great set of results which made for a great atmosphere in the main hall as the envelopes were opened. Well done to everyone.
Excellent. No doubt he has been an inspiration to many and continues to be so.....
Think we might have to advise him on his photograph background choices though !!!
An amazing 122 hampers produced by Yr8 pupils
@Holte_School
. So many they couldn’t all fit in the van that came to collect them. Even more impressive when you consider form groups have also been collecting money for the
@UNICEF
Inspired Gifts scheme at the same time.
A great day for half of our Year 7 pupils who did brilliantly at Moseley Bog in Birmingham with
@contour_schools
working on bushcraft skills to develop their confidence, independence and teamwork skills. Can the other half of the year group do even better today !
Thanks to all staff, pupils and parents who have made our return to school much easier than we feared. Whether it’s staggered arrivals, staggered finishes, shortened lunch breaks or a completely different structure to the school day....everyone has risen to the challenge.
Massive congratulations to Adan Mahmood in Year 7 who has only gone and won first prize for his great piece of work that was entered into the National Storytelling Week competition in late January. Great news !
Fantastic to hear stories like that and makes us very proud indeed. There may well have been a lot of emotional parents today as a large number of pupils did brilliantly. Long may it continue !!
Teary dad of son (eldest child) who got A*s & A's equivalent for
#GCSEresults
at
@Holte_School
today said: 'It's like our family is celebrating Eid twice this week!' The lad kept his head down, stayed away from trouble & did his thing.

Great news that Year 10 boys football team have been crowned Aston League Division One champs for 3rd season in a row. Great feat ! Rumours that some of the year 10's are late possibilities in Southgate's world cup squad plans as yet unfounded !!!!!!!!!
42 year 11 pupils are the proud owners and wearers of gold ties this week after performing really well in their mock exams. How many will be in a gold tie after the March PPE exams.......
Proud that
@Holte_School
was chosen as the venue for the launch today on the back of our proactive approach to tackling knife crime. Pupils were great as ever and looking forward to seeing the TV coverage on the local news programmes tonight.
#LifeorKnife
| Parents, today we're urging you to speak to your child about the devastating impact of carrying knives ahead of the summer break.
💬 Here's a short guide to having that difficult conversation, read by the Brindley family, who lost their son James to
#knifecrime
.
Congratulations to Year 7 who are setting standards the likes of which we are struggling to remember. After 13 weeks at their new school, the 192 pupils have recorded 98.2% attendance and have a grand total of 6 sleuth behaviour referrals !! Talk about setting the bar high......
Excellent news that Holte has today received the Bullying Intervention Group (BIG) Award for our work around anti-bullying. Very pleasing to get the feedback that our portfolio was one of the best ever submitted with ground breaking initiatives in evidence at Holte.
"Thanks for being a great teacher and making our class fun. You do tell dead jokes but that's fine."
"Thanks for helping me always. You get angry sometimes but it's okay - you are still amazing and you will be always. I learned a lot of things from you."
Condolences to Nasir’s family from everyone
@Holte_School
. So sad to hear what has happened to a former pupil. You were in the thoughts of all staff and pupils today.
Excellent experience for two coach loads of
@Holte_School
pupils at the Birmingham Hippodrome this afternoon to see Blood Brothers. And it goes without saying....Holte pupils gained lots of positive comments from the public about their conduct as they always do. Well done all.
Fantastic Citizenship Day
@Holte_School
today covering so many different topics. In the build up Year 11 have had their charity week and raised £447.52p for the British Heart Foundation. Top effort everyone !
@TheBHF
Only 24 hours to go until we find out if we have been successful in the "Transforming Lives Through Partnerships" award at the
@AwardsEducation
ceremony at Edgbastion cricket ground tomorrow night. Fingers crossed !!
Holte’s year 8 boys football team travelled for the local derby against Broadway on Wednesday. They did rather well. A 15-0 win !! Let’s hope Man Utd do the same to Liverpool on Sunday (says Mr Oliver shamelessly hijacking Holtes twitter feed !!!!)
Great effort by pupils from across Holte, Mayfield and Lozells this evening in staging a concert featuring music, dance and drama in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital. Nearly £500 raised in total. Great to see so many pupils, staff and parents enjoying themselves.
The Holte Hamper Heavyweight title is shaping up nicely amongst Year 10 form tutors for tomorrow. Mrs James has forwarded this little teaser in anticipation but don't be surprised if there are some extra ones from her form by tomorrow morning. Results will be known by 10am !!!!
The ‘Holte Ramblers’ who walked 7 miles to work this morning and did the return journey this evening. Plenty of money raised for
@BrainTumourOrg
already with hopefully more to come. Now for the hot bath.....
Nice to welcome you back, although Holte looks a little different from your school days now !! Looking forward to future collaboration. Our pupils are passionate about their community and will be enthused by projects to continually improve it.
Always love visiting my old primary school,
@heathfld
- today was extra special as I also visited my secondary school -
@HolteSLS
- privileged to be in a position to give back to the institutions that gave me so much!

Great display from the U16 Table Tennis team who won through their qualifier today and will now go the National Final to be held in Bristol in due course. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Some Yr12
@Holte_School
students had a great day earlier this week when they received a tour of parliament and an invite to an
@APPGCGames
meeting where they were able to put questions to the committee members.
Great news. Down to the final 3 in the 'Transforming lives through partnerships' category for the
@AwardsEducation
ceremony in July. So proud that our work in this area has been recognised.
@Holte_School
hosted the filming of an
@itvnews
piece today with
@ProlevelP
Tony Daley and Dave Barnett doing a tribute to Cyrille Regis. Some very lucky Year 8's today.
Year 11 Performing Arts group has been at the National Theatre for a backstage tour and to watch War Horse. An experience they won't forget in a hurry !
Dinasha was asked by her History teacher to produce a cartoon strip to explain the growth of the Mormon movement. This was the work that came back. WOW !!!!!!
Today
@Holte_School
have done their third year packing bags for
@SchoolinaBag1
.... 51 more children can go to school next year thanks to Holte pupils! More planned for next year too!!!
Congratulations to Mamun Hussain, Sumaiyyah Khan, Belal Ali, Juned Miah and Jamaal Mir in year 9 who were runners up in The National College for High Speed Rail challenge competition. 15 schools took part, and our pupils have gained a place in the National Finals. Well done !!
Hats off to Year 7 boys football team too who have won Aston League Division Two this year. Next stop Aston Cricket leagues - if it ever stops raining !!!
Best of luck to under 16 girls table tennis team who have fought their way through to the national finals in Bristol today. These are girls who only first picked up a table tennis bat a couple of years ago but
#Holtespirit
can take you a long way....
Brilliant “Culture Day’
@Holte_School
today. Pupils all in cultural dress looking amazing (and staff), some great learning about different cultures and lots of food from different cultures to sample. A fantastic day enjoyed by everyone.
Massive congratulations to Aysha and Yeasin (brilliant art exam work), Ridhwan (great English work) and Abibat and Nawa (achieving grades 8 and 7 respectively in GCSE Italian) who were invited to
#HotChocFri
this week. Worth pointing out Nawa is in year 8 !!!!
Apologies to the English department as it's a bit late but these were their fantastic efforts on World Book Day last week. How many characters can you work out ???
Another year of amazing work by pupils and staff
@Holte_School
has seen hundreds of hampers delivered to local community charities to help those in need over Christmas. These are the 62 hampers that went to Villa Cross soup kitchen.
Another Year 11 message. "We are all human. We are all the same. No matter what ethnicity or religion you are. So let's make the world a better place while we are here and ensure we treat others the way we would want to be treated."
