Three tenets of the church of HockeySport: Pettersson is secretly both Sedin twins, Putin replaced the cup with a replica, and the NHL needs hot, black ice.
The Canucks just lost their longest serving player and Conn Smythe favourite on the eve of Game 7.
To put this in Oilers terms, imagine how they would feel if they got news today that something terrible had happened to the NHL draft lottery machine.
“From now on, every BC resident will have to show this personalized barcode when entering any public place to prove that they never argued that the Canucks should trade Pettersson.”
Strange that every hockey insider is constantly racing to break the names of every possible lineup movement, but for some reason no one's jumping at the chance to tweet out these names today. So we'll do it:
Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, Cal Foote, Michael McLeod
Here's the Conn Smythe voting from the
@ThePHWA
.
I haven't had a vote for the Conn Smythe for at least the last seven seasons -- yeah, I don't know either -- but my ballot would have been:
1. McDavid
2. Barkov
3. Bobrovsky

Oilers a target now. Juggernaut of the west they want to take us down a peg. I bet they find a way to do it. Maybe that Kane ltir news was for a reason
Brock Boeser has more points this season than the following players:
Chris Kreider
William Karlsson
Vladimir Tarasenko
Jordan Binnington
Tyler Seguin
Filip Forsberg
Cole Caufield
Taylor Hall
(TBH We included Binnington because we're hoping to goad him into a fight tonight)
Hey
@SNstats
, can you check if this is the first time in franchise history that Canucks fans have thrown hats on the ice during the first period of a road game?
Take a moment of silence today to reflect on the most cursed day in the Canuck calendar.
It's 11-21-23 today.
Or as it's known in Vancouver: Messier-Erikksson-OEL Day
The Flames have filed for club-elected salary arbitration with Matthew Tkachuk. This provides us the opportunity to continue to work with his representatives towards a contractual resolution while removing the possibility of an offer sheet.
For those curious about whatever happened to that 1st round pick the Canucks gave up for J.T. Miller:
The 20th overall pick Shakir Mukhamadullin has never played an NHL game and was one of the 6 pieces traded for Timo Meier in a deal widely regarded as a "fleecing".
Riddle of the day.
Elias Pettersson is 1st in even strength points amongst forwards in the NHL.
However, he is second in even strength points amongst Swedes.
How is this possible?
A reminder to all that

📷 Twitter isn't always what it seems and people need to be careful with who they interact with. There's some gross people out there.
@SNJohnGarrett
is a fake person. A few of us have had our suspicions for a while. No one is THAT lovable...
“Dear Canucks,
Please beat Columbus tonight. Full disclosure, us and the other the fans have been talking a lot of shit about the Oilers beating weak teams. So please, for the love of god, don’t hold back tonight. Or we’ll never hear the end of it.”
Sincerely,
The Canuck Fanbase
They should have announced this trade as three trades:
1) 1st round pick. + Erikkson for Garland
2) 7th round pick for OEL ($1.2m retained)
3) Beagle + Roussel + 2nd round pick for nothing
There. Doesn’t that feel better?
Roberto Luongo gave up the Captaincy to Henrik Sedin like the incredible sportsman that he is and now they enter the Hockey Hall of Fame together and I’m not crying, YOURE CRYING
The Canucks need to consider whether winning their game tonight is the right direction for the franchise. Every win just hurts their draft position.
Are we sure that it’s worth it to draft 32nd overall when there are many medium/high-upside prospects available in picks 16 to 20?
We've been developing our own analytics model, roughly based on the moneypuck model but completely removing any bias inherent in the data.
Any and all feedback would be welcome!
“I got a call in the middle of the night, Saskatchewan time, and all I could hear on the other end was ‘woooop wooooop woop!’. And then he hung up.”
- Braden Holtby getting the news that Nate Schmidt is a Canuck
This is the Canucks last chance to make it right.
- move the game to BC Place.
- bust out the Millionaires Jerseys.
- tell Luongo the net is his.
- sit Tortorella on the bench and make him watch.
People haven't fully considered the massive future implications of this Jake Rathbone deal. You see, at $850k per year, for 2 years, the Canucks are now in a position to.... who am I kidding... it's July... go the fuck outside everyone
