As some will already know we say goodbye and good luck to our Headteacher Mr Donaghy on Friday 30th August.He has decided to retire after 40 plus years in Education. After successfully leading Hillhead Primary old and new he's decided it's time to begin a new chapter in his life.

P7 were able to end their WW2 topic by talking with Peggy. Peggy was able to share her personal experiences and stories of what growing up in Glasgow during WW2 was like. She's a great story teller and had our P7s fascinated by her account of the Cyldebank Blitz. A big thank you!

Mr Sinclair, Mrs Forrest and Mrs Watt gave our P6 pupils a taste of a day in the life of a victorian school child as part of their class topic. Copperplate handwriting, slate and pencil and playground games were the order of the day. One or two chimney sweeps attended school too!

As #COP26 begins in Glasgow we created a Rainforest of Hope in our school. Pupils from P1 to P7 shared their own thoughts on what needs to be done to tackle the Climate Emergency and their hopes for the future. It was time to say goodbye to our rainbow window display. 🌈 🌍🌳

Our first day as a School Car Free Zone between 8.30-9.15am and 2.30-3.15pm was a success. We had representatives from Police Scotland, the Road Safety Department as well as Traffic Wardens on site today to support it's enforcement. Thank you for your support. #walkcyclescoot

Pupils from P2 to P7 are taking part in the Virtual Scottish Schools Run. We will be running the length of the West Highland Way in our school grounds. Leg One - Milngavie to Rowardennan, 27 miles! Each class will complete a combined 96 miles by 2nd October. 🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏃🏾‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️ #virtualGSSR

This evening P7 have been learning all about Search and Rescue techniques, including how to put someone in the recovery position and respond to a casualty with a break. We learned how to make a splint using clothing and how to use a 'log roll' with a stretcher. Fascinating!

We had a lovely first day back at school with P4-P7. There was a real buzz in the classrooms and playground as friends and classmates caught up with each other. We're sure there will be a few tired children tonight! We're looking forward to seeing you all again tomorrow. 🤗
