Deeply honored to receive the Wilhelm Schickard Dissertation Prize from
@uni_tue
! 🥳🎉This inspires me to keep working hard.💪 I dedicate this recognition to my amazing mentors
@OKohlbacher
and Andrei Lupas. It wouldn't have been possible without their guidance and support.🙏🎉
I made this figure out of my fascination with protein architectures. I call it "Molecular Machinery of Life." Thought to share it with you to enjoy your eyes. Can you detect, by heart, the Nobel Prize-Winning structures?

Today, I had the pleasure to deliver the farewell speech on the behalf of 600 young scientists from around the globe at the closing ceremony of
#LINO23
on the beautiful island of Mainau. 🙏🙏
My first two master students defended today.🥳🎊🥳 They gave wonderful presentations and both came up with novel and publishable results in six months. I can't be more proud of them. And maaaybe, I can make it to a group leader in the future.🤔🤔😅😅
Shout out to all postdocs out there who practically function as underpaid group leaders. Hey, you are doing great and recognised! May your grant applications get accepted soon to start your own lab.🤞🤞

Unforgettable birthday celebration with friends and loved ones. 🎊🥳🎊
I started to work on my new year resolution;
Stay healthy, get my work published, finish my Ph.D., reading list, more sports and it goes on.

As a PhD student, I think good publications are the strongest lines in our resumes. With leveling up in academia, having a lot of publications becomes the norm or the average. What does matter the most then in the high profile academic resumes?

I was selected among 20 young researchers out of 650 participants of

to present our work to an audience including 70+ Nobel laureates
@lindaunobel
. I had the honor to present today.
Yes, I had the honor to directly discuss methods of protein structure and interaction with the three Nobel Laureates who established the key methods of Structural Biology; Robert Huber, Hartmut Michel, and Kurt Wüthrich. And I can't keep calm about it. 🥳🤩

Today's thought
Since they are not "extracurricular" or after-work activities for researchers and people in academia, I think it's kind of abusive to hold/organize conferences and workshops during the weekends. What do you think? Do you agree?

It's my great honor to represent the Max Planck Society and Uni of Tuebingen at the

Hypothetically, if you have one vacant position & you got almost equally eligible candidates of different genders (e.g. male and female)? How would decide who to hire and why? Do you take the gender balance of your workplace into account? Is that fair?

Besides introducing EVcomplex2, we investigated sequence coevolution for the entire Ecoli cell envelop proteome, predicted and resolved hundreds of novel PPIs, and provided structural models

Joey's very first school items.😍 I can't believe he is going to school in a month. I am super excited and worried about the upcoming challenges and the corona situation.
I hope he will have a lot of fun, love learning, meet nice friends, never ever be bullied.
Not only I am so happy that you guys like it, but also to know people who would appreciate the beauty of proteins as I do.😍🤩 I am totally gonna follow you guys. DM me if you want a PDF version of it for printing. 🤗🤗

After his great lecture in

, I followed Richard Henderson to his Open Exchange session, where we spent more than 30 minutes in a direct and open one-to-one discussion. Besides being a great scientist, he is full of perspectives. Here's what I learned from him ...
Do you make sure that your figures, posters, or presentations are Colorblind-friendly? Did you know that 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women have some kind of Color Vision Deficiency (CVD)? Yes, that about 300 million people worldwide.

My 5yrs old said: "why is the center of the Galaxy so bright if there is a black hole in it? "🤓

What if, we implemented a system in academia that enables Ph.D. students to evaluate their supervisors. And records of these evaluations are considered by the employers and weigh as much as the scientific achievements upon hiring, promotion, or grant applications.
