Let’s just end this line of thinking…
SEC Baseball is not “like AA”
SEC baseball is the best level of amateur baseball in the world, but it’s nothing like AA minor league baseball.
I am entering the transfer portal
FB: 103-107 (4500sr)
SL: 96-99 (7300sr)
CH: 93-95 (3200sr)
3.1ip, 10k, 0h…27 walks
Willing to talk to teams who were in Omaha only, but will take Super Regional teams too.
(Did I get that right?)
Scouts aren’t keeping box scores in the stands and rarely know (or care) what the score is. They’re looking for DUDES. They’re looking for skill sets. They’re looking for guys who play every pitch like it’s their last. Stop letting a bad AB or bad inning effect your effort.
Absolute joke. 28-27, and the 11th best team in their conference?
Getting in over TCU, Lamar, and other programs who were BETTER all season.
@NCAABaseball
- do better.
1,506 baseball players are in the NCAA transfer portal as of today...Dudes, make sure you choose the right FIT, and not just go with the biggest name that comes calling. “Fit” is everything when it comes to your college experience!
#TheMoreYouKnow
JUCO game Friday…
Team 1 starter: LHP 93-96, wipe out slider.
Team 2 starter: JUCO All American. LHP 90-93.
Both threw strikes.
Final score was 10-9.
You aren’t “settling” for JUCO. You’re lucky to be there, and you better be a DUDE if you want to see the field.
If you were offered nearly triple the salary you're making right now to take your dream job, would you do it?
I think 100% of people would.
I get the Aggie hatred towards Schloss, but be realistic about it from your own perspective.
Remarkable…
Supposedly you can’t get recruited to the Power 5 if you don’t throw hard…but in crunch time at the
#CWS
teams are going to dudes who throw 86-90 that can PITCH…
Perhaps, just maybe, teams should be recruiting kids who get results and can pitch..?
College baseball coaches are not showing up to watch 13-14-15u games anymore.
Spend those years investing in strength, athleticism and learning the game.
16u is now the first age that college coaches are attending and watching games.
Dang man. Everyone in JUCO throws 88-96mph these days…
High school dudes, you better get physical because the game beyond high school has changed…a lot.
College baseball coaches do not care that you play multiple sports IF you are not good enough at theirs.
Playing multiple sports is great, I did it...but the reality is that you have to be good enough at baseball for a coach to offer you a spot on their team.
2024's - tomorrow is a big day!
Answer weird numbers, don't mumble - respond with yes sir/no sir, make sure you know what your GPA is, & don't be afraid to ask questions!
From a college recruiter…
“Had a coach tell me he’s got a kid that’s 88-91, so I drove three hours to see him throw in the playoffs. He was 82-86. I’ll never answer that guys calls again.”
Don’t lie about your players!
Getting a kid a look isn’t worth your reputation!
High school players: Passion is the easiest thing for college scouts to see. You either have it or your don't. College baseball isn't the land of milk and honey. It's a grind. If you don't love the game with every fiber of your being, colleges will doubt that you can make it
@Todd_Sharp
@nextlevelbb
For what it’s worth…Dylan Crews is one of the best hitters in recent SEC history
He’s hitting .272 with 34K/10bb currently in AA
He hit .426 with an OPS of 1.280 his draft year at LSU
Today is August 1st!
A big day for the 2026 class, as you are now allowed to be contacted by NCAA D1 coaches.
The reality is that most will not have their phones ring today, AND THAT'S OKAY! Keep working - your time will come!
If your phone does ring - be yourself, be honest!
Show up to the ballpark dressed like a ballplayer!
Too many kids showing up today looking like they just rolled out of bed!
By the time you’re walking away from your car, you should be dressed looking like you’re about to meet the head coach of your dream school!
IF you want to truly play college baseball, here’s the reality…
Being a part time player in high school isn’t going to work. The bar for playing in college has never been higher than it is now.
By the time you get to 16u, the dedication to your craft has to be all in!
High school dudes,
This summer on the circuit recruiters aren’t keeping a box score, nor care what the score of the game is. They’re looking for dudes who can help them win games!
Show them your best, regardless of if you’re 0-4 or 4-4!
Play with energy!
Let’s also not forget…the best high school players in the country every year don’t go to the SEC, they sign in the draft and go to the lower levels of the minor leagues.
Trend right now with the 2026 class...
D1's are all over the arms, & waiting to see how the bats pan out...yes there are a few exceptions, but this seems to be the trend.
Hitters - Just keep proving that you can hit good pitching, and can defend your position at an elite level!
@billyliucci
@PFF_College
Every sports page is run by someone who is a fan of somebody...A&M is so defensive over this NIL stuff. No one is mad about NIL, it's just the denying that it played a role in the 2022 class that keep people talking about Jimbo/A&M. Just own it, & people will stop talking.
The new D1 roster rules mostly effect position players/hitters.
34 players - with 17/18 pitchers (minimum).
16-ish hitters.
They aren't going to bring in hitters that can't compete for the field immediately.
D1 will want high school arms, and experienced college hitters.
Just an idea for tournament companies…
Stop tweeting out kids who are walking the house just because their velo is good.
Let’s make players understand that performance matters!
Metrics are cool, performing is cooler!
Freshman, sophomores and Juniors..
Look at the passion and pain on the faces of these seniors as they play their final game…
That will be you one day!
Never take this game for granted, you never know when it might be your last!
The HS/College baseball season starts in less than a month. If you haven’t been working your tail off, be prepared to be disappointed with your role when practices start. The ones who will be where you want to be spent this break busting their ass every single day.
UIL Texas HS playoffs are coming up…
Nothing says Texas HS baseball like dudes bleaching their hair blonde, and getting rolled in the first round 💀
Just kidding, guys.
Blondes have more fun!
@CoachSwit
College coaches aren’t paying attention to anything below 15u, at the youngest. Most aren’t paying attention prior to 16u anymore.
The days of 8th and 9th graders being recruited are officially dead…and that’s a good thing!
Stuck inside?
Pitchers: get dry reps (throwing without a ball). Towel drills, and visualization drills.
Hitters: get some dry hacks in. Visualization drills, watch video.
All players: planks, core work, stretching, bands (if available), body weight exercises.
Find a way!!!
If you’re in high school, and you can’t work out because you are playing your sport, you’re doing it wrong.
Yes, there is offseason and in-season lifting.
However, if you aren’t in the weight room 12 months a year, you will either fall behind or get hurt.
Always be lifting!
If you’re striking out & not barreling up 75-85mph fastballs, stop worrying about college baseball and focus on getting better.
Too many “cart before the horse” mindsets out there in high school baseball.
One step at a time.
Pay attention dudes!
Many of the kids who are a “big deal” today will be out of the sport in a few years, and then there will be kids that few know about right now that will make it further in baseball than any one you know. Rankings earn you nothing. Remember that!
Always find it weird when college recruiters “only issue” with a kid is his velo being a few mph away…if a kid is an outstanding pitcher, can you not add those 2-4mph through your S&C development program? 16-17 year olds are rarely at the velo they’ll be at 20-21 years old
I love late bloomers...
Had a 2023 HS grad walk-in to tryout this week who was 6'5" sitting 86-88 with elite spinners...kid was throwing 74 a year ago.
But sure, tell me more about how this 12u kid "sucks" or "won't make it"
Interesting. 93-95. This dude was 85-88 in high school, but easily one of the best PITCHERS in the state of Texas...so you're telling me you can develop velocity? Weird. Maybe more schools should recruit kids who can PITCH, and develop the velo on campus?
Shane Sdao threw really well for
@AggieBaseball
last weekend in Oxford. He was sharp in the first against Arkansas, recording a strikeout on a 93 mph heater. Sdao was 93-95 mph with FB (SR up to 2400) along w/ CH at 84 and a SL at 81-82 mph (2650 SR).
Coaches don’t make the lineups…
Players do!
Want to be in the lineup?
Produce. Help the team win. Shove on the bump. Do things that help the team win!
Do those things and you’ll never come off the field!
Pitchers,
High level hitters aren't fazed by 90mph fastballs. They are fazed by effective velocity execution (changing speeds), plus secondaries, being pitched backwards, and deception.
Velo IS important, but being able to pitch is more important in the long run!
San Jac and Navarro just played one of the most competitive and entertaining super regionals I’ve ever watched.
Congratulations to the Gators of San Jac on earning their 27th(!) trip to the JUCO World Series!
Metrics only matter when you use them correctly! Velo means nothing if you don’t throw strikes! Exit velo doesn’t matter if you swing and miss all the time! 60 times don’t matter if you take bad reads and don’t know how to run the bases! Baseball IQ is greater than any metric!
I wish players would stop worrying so much about “the next level” & focus on the present. The present is where you get better, but more importantly the present is where you get to have fun playing this beautiful game! The lifespan of a ballplayer is short, live in the moment!
Barry Bonds is the greatest hitter to ever live, and its almost impossible to debate that. If he is not elected to the HOF, that will mean that every hitter in the HOF was worse than a dude who is not in it. That would diminish the HOF's value to the sport of baseball.
RHP picks to 1st base (balk move):
• Lift left heel before spinning to pick
• It’s about quickness, not velo
• Aim for .9 second pick time
@FlatgroundApp
Most important things for 6-12 year old ballplayers...
-Falling in love with baseball
-Learning how to practice/prepare
-Learning proper fundamentals & developing baseball IQ
Least important things...
-Winning a bunch of meaningless tournaments
-Being an "All American"
If you don't like bat flips, stop giving up nukes...
If you don't like pitchers celebrating, stop striking out...
If you don't like playing with passion, go watch golf...
LET THE KIDS PLAY!
@jsatch6_jknox
Right? The pitching in the SEC is terrible compared to any level of pro ball…there’s also no Dominicans, latins, or Asian players in the SEC. Folks who say this are so clueless.
@R_Brauninger
Schloss took the Texas A&M job as a stop gap with higher pay until the Texas job came available.
May suck to hear that, but it's just the truth.
Paying for flights and hotels. Paying for top kids off the backs of unknowing families on lower teams. Just so you can say your “organization” is “elite” - living vicariously through teenagers is pretty pathetic.
There’s gonna be a lot of dudes breaking out this summer who were unknowns with the Covid dead period lasting 14 months. Can’t wait for these guys to finally get their shot to show these recruiters what they’ve got. Summer 2021 will be like nothing we’ve ever seen in recruiting.
Want to really make it in baseball?
It doesn’t matter what team you play on or how many games your team wins.
What matters is how hard you work when no one is watching..how much time you put in to improving your weaknesses..learning to be a world class competitor & teammate!
‘26 RHP/SS
@jacksmejkal02
📍 Area Code Tryouts
FB: 90-92, 93T
SL: 83-85
CH: 80-81
Elite arm talent, with real two way potential. Commands slider to both sides of the plate. Changeup got several whiffs vs LHH. Elite defensive actions at SS with a strong hit tool.
It'll be an interesting offseason for
@TexasBaseball
. The
#Horns
will have some serious roster turnover and will need to hit the portal hard this summer to mitigate some of the losses. Stay tuned.
Months to play competitive baseball:
February, March, April, May, June, July, September, October
Months to not play competitive baseball:
January, August, November, December
Play eight months of competitive baseball, take four months off from playing competitive baseball.
In light of
@TarletonBase
winning its conference tournament, we are submitting a request to the
@NCAA
asking that they reevaluate their postseason ban for reclassifying institutions.
Our student-athletes and coaches deserve to keep their season going.
Our full statement 👇
The best advice I can give to a HS player, in todays climate, is to NOT focus on "what's next" but rather be obsessed with the team(s) you're currently with.
There's no guarantees beyond today!
Play all you want! It may be the last time you get to enjoy this beautiful game!!!
@CoachZachElder
Sandlot baseball isn’t playing 6 games in 36 hours…pitch if you want, or don’t. Games lasted a couple hours max then we got bored and went played basketball or in the woods, etc.
Kids play too many organized tournaments these days.
Seeing tons of colleges posting their fall game schedules lately…
It’s weird. They can play games AND work out at the same time!
I’m stunned! I thought you had to “take the fall off” to “work out and get stronger”!?
HP Class of 2022 are the 🐐’s
Love you boys and your families.
The bar has been set, and it’s been set extremely high.
Thank you for an incredibly special ride, I’ll never forget the memories we made!
Can’t wait to watch your journey, both on the field and off!
#HPfam4life
College coaches don't care what teams win tournaments...this is evident by how many of them stick around for bracket play - the answer is very few (and in some cases - none).
They are looking for DUDES, & are going to see the teams/orgs with track records of having DUDES.
I feel terrible for
@mccbaseball1
and
@CiscoBaseball1
after today’s decision by the NJCAA. Two of the best teams in the country had their season ended over a technicality/stupid rule. Keep your heads up, fellas. You did nothing wrong, guys. Great season for both teams.
The talent at
@HPbaseball3
right now is as deep & talented as we’ve ever had. Quality over quantity is what a true showcase program is all about. 30-45 ballers ONLY in each graduating class means making a team at HP actually means something. Big things coming this summer at HP!
I get that college athletics is a business…however, if you’re going to pull a kids offer, don’t ghost them. Pick up the phone and call them. They’ve invested their future in your verbal offer, the least you can do is call them and explain why that offer is no longer available.
Always get a good chuckle when I hear hitters say “I just can’t hit slow pitching”
You struggle with 75, but you mash 95?
Hitters hit.
Theres a reason you don’t see dudes throwing 73 in the big leagues.
I can’t express how excited we are for this summer...our decision to go with quality over quantity forming our teams this summer will create exposure for all of our kids. Every team in our program has a chance to win their tournaments every weekend!
#HPfam
If there's one thing opening weekend of the JUCO season has shown, it's that Region XIV & Region V are going to be dogfights this season. Very few weak teams & most teams are rolling out D1 arms in their wkend rotations. Texas JUCOs have never been deeper than they are right now!
So sad to see Angelina cancelling sports for this school year. This is going to gut their baseball program. I know how tirelessly
@M_Barash5
and Coach Livin have worked to build a first class program. Hopefully this historic program can comeback strong as ever in 2021-2022!
