- As Hockeymomof2, I'm a Hurricanes fan (est 06) whose 2 sons played hockey as kids. So old, I have cable just to get NHL Network.

DJ Burns is gonna be one helluva siren sounder at PNC for the playoffs. The game won't even need to be played - the opponent will see no point to taking the ice.
Not to get ahead of myself, but it's ironic that the national media believe that the Canes are too slow to play with the Devils when our 5th fastest player won the NHL All Star Weekend's 'Fastest Skater' event.
First time I've seen the C5 shirts RBA tosses out after games.
Also, watching this kid grow up has been inspiring. However, I was not in any way prepared for chest hair.
Still thinking about Gostisbehere saying (w/a smile) he knew things were different when his 1st video session with Tim Gleason ran 45 minutes. Timmy running a 45 minute introductory lecture on "Canes Man to Man Defensive Systems" is a side of Gleason I didn't see coming in 2010.
This 10-game run began after the players' only meeting, when Aho spoke to media following the Vancouver game. With a nod to Svech and Pyotr, I think it was Aho who put the team on his shoulders, lifted them out of the lowest point in years.
From his playing days with the Whalers to watching his son make his NHL debut with the same franchise, Ted Drury shares it all in this week's Mailbag!

If you feel anything but joy for Necas right now you’re the problem. These are human beings, not numbers in a box score.
I wouldn't give a 🦆 about contract talks either. Not that he's involved on the day to day anyway 🙄
Jeremy Colliton still seems very pissed.
He gave this semi-rant today — and when asked afterward if he was referring to Dylan Strome said, "Among others, yes."
the 18,700 with 'LETS GO CANES!' building in the background, most everyone on their feet - talk about a money shot as the scene explodes.

Girl17 has found Youtube gold on Canes Reddit. Aho interviewed in Finnish, (with subtitles) at his hottub along side the famous Sauna about Jarvis and Turbo's sauna schedule.
For all the revisionist historians out there claiming the Hurricanes were always the favorites, expected to win, here's a good sampling of NHL punditry 10 days ago from Duhatschek's piece at the Athletic:
Y'know who Canes twitter is really missing the last couple weeks? Sara Civian. She was the only true beat reporter, had her finger on the pulse of both the team and the fanbase, and knew how to frame negative energy so it was kept in perspective, honest but not unforgiving.
Really insightful stuff. And this:
“They like to make fun of me, but I think it’s all out of love,” Jarvis said on his teammates. “I hope so. I hope they don’t actually hate me.”
“Nothing but love,” Aho shouted from the stall adjacent to Jarvis’.
In order for Seth Jarvis to be successful, he had to change his game. Now, the Hurricanes are reaping the benefits of a player who was willing to do whatever it took.
THIS IS THE SADDEST THING! SETH JARVIS HEARD RUMORS ABOUT BEING TRADED. HE WRITES ABOUT HOW THIS MAKES HIM REALLY SAD. 😢

Necas must feel like he's died and gone to heaven playing with Svech and Kuzy. This is the hockey he's dreamed of playing since he was watching PKane highlights on youtube in Czech.
between the eclipse, the aurora borealis and the double-brood of cicada in north carolina, all in the last 6 weeks, the stars are aligning for once-in-a-million phenomenon. It was a sign:

After a few years of "Cup or Bust" talk in Raleigh, I'm looking forward to a transition (a re-tool?) this season. Staal's team to Aho's team. It's entertaining, it's good hockey, and all part of the long-term plan. Team's not going anywhere, the future is really really bright.

Stanley Cup Playoffs opener with Aho bloodied, RBA with young Skyler, and a bunch of other quick cuts (inc Svech's latest Michigan) was pretty great. Need to see it here so I can replay a dozen times.
Canes clinch 3rd in the League, winning 6 straight to close out the season. Longest winning string since they won 9 straight to open the season in October. Bookends.
Sebastian Aho is having a monster year. Blowing away his career best in goals/assists/points per game. This is just his 4th year in the NHL
(Note: he has 4 more goals than Panarin.)
Panarin is having a monster year. Blowing away is career best in goals/assists/points per game. This is just his 5th year in NHL. Doesn’t it seem like he’s been around longer?
Tonight I've realized that I'm looking forward to being with you all tmrw night at PNC. If it's the last time til Oct, so be it. It's part of the team history to witness.
As a fan, I choose to have fun and celebrate hockey on a Saturday night in Raleighwood. (ymmv, I get it)
The hole remains deep. The climb remains daunting. The history remains ominous.
But after a thrilling Game 4, the Carolina Hurricanes (and their power play) have life. And the New York Rangers know it.
My column from Raleigh:
I'm wondering how many will be at the game today who were also at the last Game 7 in Raleigh 16 yrs ago? They should stand and be recognized at a TV timeout. 😂🤣
Roy Cooper, North Carolina's two-term Democratic governor, is seen as a potential running mate for Kamala Harris. Here's what you need to know about him.
The Canes defense is an entirely different beast than the Rangers D.
The Devils forwards play at lightspeed compared to the Islanders.
This score holds, and it'll be a rude awakening for both teams Wednesday.

I'm loving this 3-goalie thing where Martin is the back-up so either Freddie or Pyotr have the night completely off - just watch from up top, observe, learn, chill.
Imagining the long insta post from Necas, thanking the Raleigh fans for the memories and love, listing the ASG vote, the crowd at Carter Finley, and listing teammates and Rod from whom he learned so much, etc.
Imagining Teuvo, and not optimistic we see a 'thx'.
We're missing Pacioretty, Svechnikov and Teravainen (and Drury) and Proteau is worried the Canes chances are diminished because Raanta simply isn't good enough for 4 rounds? That's an angle I just never considered. LOL
Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta stood tall in a 5-2 Game 4 win over the Islanders. But Adam Proteau wonders if Raanta's good enough for the Canes to win the Cup:
